“Never give up and always keep fighting, because though times may be tough, the sacrifices do pay off, so just keep pushing towards your dream and just love it at the same time and enjoy it.” This quote by Gabrielle Douglas proves that she never gave up. Her whole childhood revolved around gymnastics. She started her career off at a young age and continued to excel each and every day. She ran into many obstacles along the way, but that did not stop her from becoming the best gymnast that she could possibly be.…
Quitting the sport I loved had made me realize that I need to start setting more goals for myself. Before my injury, my goals were mostly just about gymnastics. Now I have to set different goals in real life, which is for the better since I cannot do gymnastics forever. Before my injury gymnastics was all I thought about and I also did much better in school, but I was also more stressed. Gymnastics has taught me so much, especially patience which is why I did so well in school.…

We can learn new things mistakes and remember not to do them again. We should take time and appreciate the mistakes we’ve made instead of feeling terrible about them because we won't make the same mistakes after and it's a great opportunity to educate ourselves. Most people think that once they make a mistake, their life is over but every mistake educates us…
For over ten years my average day consisted of four main activities: school, homework, gymnastics, and sleep. While school breaks or holidays may have upset three of the four, competitive gymnastics was always a constant. Three hours a day five days a week with no off season left no room for apathy. During my years as a gymnast, I learned the lessons I am sure every athlete is taught— dedication, time management, and determination. However, gymnastics taught me two lessons that other athletes fail to learn thoroughly.…
One of my greatest interests include cheerleading. i take part in sideline and competitive cheerleading for my high school. I also junior coach for a little league cheer team. from being a cheerleader myself, I look up to my coaches and see what it takes to be a good leader. from being a coach as well, I know how to act professional and to set an example for those who look up to me.…
Now, I just want to try my best to learning and tell myself that “I will not give up” and “I can do it”. I want to win myself to succeed in life, I do not want to fail when I have not even tried and scared. I think that instead of blaming all the situations and circumstances like a Victim, why not think and solve like a Creator? I want myself as a Creator, not a Victim. As prof.…
Coaches in the gymnastics industry have a bright future ahead of them. As the sport of gymnastics grows each year; the coaching advances as well. In general the sport has a lot of opportunity for advancement. Each year a coach can attended regional clinics, or even special USAG conferences. At these conferences the coaches learn the best possible way to spot their athletes, and learn new advanced techniques for teaching a skill.…
The story of my life up until now would most certainly be called, Mental Gymnastics. The reasoning is simple. Growing up I was considered shy by those closest to me. I would disagree, I was a very introspective child. I knew I was an audio-visual learner from a young age…
Although gymnastics isn't considered a race, young elite gymnasts themselves are definitely in one. They're in a race with their own growing bodies and with all aspects of the sport that they dream of conquering to bring home Olympic gold before they expire. The physical and mental deterioration from the pressures of winning are brought on through intense training tactics implemented by coaches, their own parents, and even the governing body of gymnastics worldwide. The International Gymnastics Federation, bored with the classic "perfect 10" scoring system, equipped their regulations in 2006 with a new rule imposing an open ended scoring system in favor of difficulty over artistry, now requiring the gymnasts to fire the most dangerous combination…
I started gymnastics at the age of three. Running around and playing with others kept me excited to learn more and advance in the sport. I participated through the age of 13 before I decided to quit and concentrate more on school work. Gymnastics played a huge role into the person I am today. Having been a free spirited wild child, gymnastics was perfect for me.…
Ballet has always been near and dear to my heart, so much so that I took a year off from high school to pursue it on a professional level. During my year away I came to the firm conclusion that there was far more in life I cared to pursue then the four-mirrored walls I had come to know as home. I was lucky enough to find an amazing high school with a specialized “pre-med” program, the director with whom I have come to know far more as a mentor than as a teacher. Dr. Carlos Pulido is one of the wisest men I have met to date, a retired chief of surgery and certified army trauma surgeon, he is a remarkable example of all I hope to achieve in my life.…
The crowd is watching intensly as the gymnast soars over the vault and scores a perfect 10.00. The crowd goes wild! Gymnasts have to work hard to accomplish the difficult tasks of competing at gym meets all over the world. It takes a strong commitment and a positive attitude to become a competing gymnast. Gymnasts train for many hours of the week, the risk of injury is very high, but the rewards are worth it.…
“Blood, sweat, and chalk; never tears.” These words have guided my gymnastics career throughout high school. Pretty much starting from the beginning, I had to re-learn many skills and tricks that I had lost after quitting gymnastics for dance lessons in fifth grade instead of joining the competitive team. I lived for gymnastics and I still do. Walking into the gym always boosts my mood and gives me a rush of determination.…
For my observations, I interviewed girl, let’s call her Penny, who teaches gymnastics to children at a local fitness center. She is a close friend of mine and I have always been interested in what she does in her job. She teaches classes every Friday and Saturday to children ranging from 2-14 years old. I observed her multiple times and recorded 6 hours of observations. After talking to Penny Lane, I found out she did gymnastics as a child at her local fitness center.…
