My Progression In College

Often I was enrolled in multiple honors courses and remedial courses simultaneously. I wasn’t concerned, however; college already seemed off the table due to financial considerations. Although it didn’t work for my sisters, this approach worked for me. It seemed that dumb luck and chance managed to get me through high school.…

My interest in the honors college derives from the environment that I have grown up in since my sixth grade year. Like many of those applying to the honors college, I was separated from many of my peers into a group of children who showed an advancement in intellectual ability at an early age. This allowed us to work together with suitable partners to help each other learn and develop new ways of thinking. The honors college will serve much of the same purpose and allow me to maximize my learning experience while at Purdue. I do, however, believe that this gives individuals like myself an unfair advantage over my peers.…

During my senior year at North Miami Beach Senior High School, I contemplated on where I would transfer to start my collegiate studies. I considered many different universities and colleges, weighing out the positives and negatives in attending each of them. However, there was one that remained as the most impressionable college: The Honors College of Miami Dade College. My older brother had joined the Honors College and continually remarked on how they changed his life and helped him grow both mentally and financially. He began speaking to me about the Honors College when I was a freshman in high school, and I worked tirelessly to be considered acceptance into this rigorous program.…
