My Professionalism Report

I received comments on my professionalism that I find accusatory and harsh for the following reasons. At no time was I allowed to discuss the complaints, accusations, or misperceptions made against me. I was talked at and then disregarded. I was told that I take teaching too personally which I find to be a shame. Teaching is personal. These young people are the future of our nation and as a theatre teacher I am in a unique position to teach the whole student about life, emotions, coping, lose, happiness, and everything else that is included in the performing arts. It is encourage by our own “Jag Nation” and “Jag family” mottos for me to look at the students like they are our children and I treat them with respect and understanding. I’ve never seen them as buddies or, just as offensively, numbers filling seats.

Because I take my job personally I have

They come to me when life seems too hard and when they have a joke to tell. I see 140 or more students a day and have 200 in and out of my program. 3 made unsubstantiated complaints against me. Those same three were interviewed plus 3 other students that confided in me that they felt like the admin was bating them into telling some “issue” that they were supposed to have seen. The students stated that during the interview process the admin broke confidentiality by telling the students of the complaints against me and that I “blur the line” between teacher and friend. Both of which he had promised me only days before that he would not say. He then had a 45 minute evaluation with me in which I was only given the opportunity to speak twice and only until he cut me off. This same admin uses Mrs for my name when I have asked him not to on countless occasions. It is disheartening to think that a learning moment and a document that could have been used to better me as a teacher was used against me for some unknown

On Thursday February the twenty fifth during the tear down of our second stage show Our Vital Struggle, I witnessed Jim Jenkins verbally accost a student. He yelled “Turn that fucking music down” at our sound board operator Marissa Walker. This drove her into the closet where I found her hiding obviously terrified. When I began to talk to Mr. Jenkins he then began to yell at me¸ at which point I asked him into the hall way and told him that it was not acceptable to yell at or bully students and that he needed to calm down or leave. A blank can be defined in various ways. It can be defined as a situation, belief, or idea that reduces people to nothing more than inferior objects. I have been a blank space only a few times in my life. All of these experiences resulted in personal growth and maturity .Similar to the perceptions of condescending individuals who deemed minorities of African descent as inferior in Heart of Darkness and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. At Camp A, I was reduced from an individual to a caricature of an African American with amoral values because of faulty reasoning and stereotypes.…

I, professional Professionalism is a huge word composed of small acts. It’s not been a long time since I graduated from college and just 2 months ago when I signed my contract to this company. There are lots of changes since then. I was the “I-don’t-care-as-long-as-I-passed” person, the rule unto myself, I am the “go have fun as there is time”, I am just representing “me”. I was overwhelmed when I got hired by this company, I mean, first job ever!…

I’m writing this letter to inform you on your disrespectful staff. They are rude, and don’t help at all. When I simply asked for information from Ms. Johnson, she ignored my request and pointed me in an opposite direction. When I walked off she mumbled something under her breath, but to avoid conflict I kept walking. Authority wonders why they don’t get any respect from students.…

Having held a job in the fast food industry for three years I have personally seen the ramifications of not having a valuable college education, I have seen the hardships faced by my co-workers and the drawbacks from not having a college education, and do not want them for myself. I have since moved from fast food to a factory job where I have seen similar trials faced by my co-workers. In my factory job I spend most of my time doing blue collar work, this is not my end goal for a job, and I would like to push my boundaries beyond working as grunt labor. To this end I have diligently saved a large portion of my income to be able to afford a college education. PSEO immensely helps with this because it covers this year’s college expenses for…

I was assigned to Mrs. Michelle Lawrence’s fourth-grade classroom for my practicum observations and final lesson. This was a great choice for me because this is the grade I hope to be assigned to teach. Do to some problems with getting our practicum schools set we started much later into the school year than was originally planned and it put us into the classrooms during the State Testing practice weeks. Therefore, most of my time observing this class was watching the administration of a never-ending string of practices tests. During this time, Michelle didn’t teach a single lesson to her students, in fact she hardly spoke to them.…

I am grateful to be able to say that I have never worked for a principal who I have viewed as a boss. The two I have worked under were inspiring leaders who worked diligently to lead the teachers on the missions they declared for the school.
