MY PROFESSION : SOCIAL WORK PACTICES
Social Work practice is one of the demanding and essential service in our Society. The importance of social work practice is getting wide spread day by day. No media, no advertisements, nothing is there in between to make it a Super Job. The real agent of this service is the Person itself. The life changing experiences and testimonies are the tools. It passes from one individual to another and to another, so on. Social work is fully concentrated on individuals. Its main focus is on CHANGE.

In social practice, the indigenous knowledge is an essential element to know the community more closely. No matter, who the person and what the person but go down to the people as one among themselves in the group. The people will come near to us and share their problems as it is. Once the rapport is established it is easier to penetrate in to the core issues of individual life. A social worker from the same indigenous group will be best suitable in this case. In that way it’s cost effective and time saving. It is also important to know the common people language and life style. It will bring a change in the mindset of people. The issues in the Indigenous group will be more or less common in nature. So the knowledge of indigenous people will act as an edge to solve the problem. Cultural responsiveness is also to taken care while practice social work. A sudden change in the attitude of people which are related to their cultural system will ruin the entire practice of work. Being Responsive to the change will help to solve the issue. Sometimes the issues are violent in nature that, it will go beyond the group. Responsiveness is a sudden and a quick action, sometimes it is related to decision making in the appropriate time. The resources are shared between the team members and coordinated well to achieve the desired result. Everyone has something to contribute towards the betterment of team. For an instance the doctor can contribute the valuable advice on medicines which are used in the project. The information is crucial and many ways useful. In addition, the contribution highlights the good and bad side of using the medicine. So, everyone is an important input to the team. Inter-disciplinary team has an oneness among themselves. The community will feel confident with the team performance and the achievement. The each discipline in the team is having specialized knowledge and recourse, it will work as a powerful tool to convince the people. When some issues arise in the community, the team will stand as one person. Each one contributes to others suggestion and points. There will be great clarity and transparency in the information. Another important feature of inter-disciplinary team is each one get an opportunity to learn other discipline methodologies and work culture. A doctor can learn from the counselor, the counseling techniques and skills. As a result each one has some basic knowledge of other discipline. The inter-disciplinary team work creates an individual into a more valuable person in the community. Some of the work done in the project is used in the research purpose also.
