I will learn new materials step by step or randomly. Sometimes I will read through the chapter from the beginning till the end to study. It works for me because I can read every detail in the book and have an all-round understanding. However, sometimes I will read the chapter randomly. I used these two methods in the past. According to the suggestions from Felder and Soloman, sequential learners learn by step by step. Therefore, they have to fill up the steps that they missed in the class when they are studying in order to have a better understanding of the whole ideas. After that, they may create an outline for the chapter to make sure that they understand the materials thoroughly. In addition, for global learners, when they are studying, they can read the first section of the chapter first. After that, they may jump to the overview of the chapter to get a big picture of the chapter. Also, they can try to relate every new concept to the materials that they already know. Study along with a big picture is more effective than study randomly. The suggestions are useful, and I will follow these methods when I doing my study next

Francheska, in the past I did struggle with studying, as I would memorize what was on the study guide. This was a problem as I would study how to solve a question that was worded a certain way and then on the test it was completely different and I would have a hard time solving the question. I find this to be a big problem when studying for a quiz or exam. You want to just memorize everything on the study guide, instead of studying how to apply the concepts. With the exam we just had I used the whole method, without even knowing that was the technique I used.…
