Being apart of this practicum this semester has been such a learning experience. When I first learned what a practicum was, I was really nervous and afraid that I would not do well. I am really grateful that I had Jordan Rife to help me when I had questions and to really guide me through this experience. In this semester, I was able to participate in ten different practicum sessions. In each session, I learned something new about myself, worship, and/or the Church itself. Through this time at College Wesleyan, I was able to learn things both practical and theological in nature and what to do and not to do when it comes to running a church. Being able to be hands-on these past few weeks has been so great and excites me for my future in the church. Since I was already attending College Wesleyan Church regularly before this practicum began, I wanted to stay and see behind the scenes of the church I was attending. I was able to meet Jordan Rife during New Student Orientation week and express my interest in completing my practicum at College Wesleyan. It was nice to know that she also wanted me apart of her practicum class as well. Through my time with her, the three things that I learned the most was the importance of brainstorming, working with a team, working on the program, and giving …show more content…

Back then I had a lot of simple goals that were easy to accomplish, but now it’s time to start making those goals much bigger. As for my first goal I would like to graduate college with no complications. It is something that can be quite stressful at times, especially when school does not slow down to accommodate your needs. While showchoir is a huge part of where my leadership lies, I also must step up in church as leader. Because I lead worship for my church I am also an example to the children that attend and anyone else that may be of influence. This is such a weight to have on my shoulders, but I feel as though it makes me a better person and pushes my limits of being a leader in my…

I learned to make my room mine, and to be creative even if that means that my room stands out from the others. I learned to be creative when books and lectures don’t get the point across. I just loved her use of music and dance to teach math, which will be something I use in my own classroom. I think the most important thing that I learned to do would be to bring love in, no matter how hard a day may be for me, it may be two times as hard for the children as well. Showing those kids love in the classroom may be the only time they get it, everyone deserves a safe place.…

Preparing for this exam was unlike any other exam for me. I have recently accepted a job at Easter Maine Medical Center, as a nursing tech, and the hours of orientation have been challenging to balance with my studies. My new job has required even greater time management than I have previously implemented. I worked a thirteen-hour shift the day before the exam, worked immediately after the exam, and then completed an online midterm for my socio-cultural nursing class that evening. Although I have not received my exam grade, I felt very prepared and confident due to my strict time management.…

Learning to write When I attended elementary school, part of the curriculum was penmanship. There was a certain segment of instruction dedicated to penmanship rather than writing. We were given large sheets of oat colored paper with three parallel lines widely spaced. The alphabets were used to print and write in cursive using the midpoint, and upper lines for capital letters. The handwriting grades were based on neatness and readability.…

    1. Going into missions week I was filled with excitement. Going to the Dominican Republic is something I’ve looked forward to since my first year at Hickory Grove. Every year you hear how the DR changed the students who went. There is a famous saying among the people who have gone on the Dominican trip, “I went with intentions of changing/helping the people yet the people seemed to change/help me,” and that was something I was looking forward to experiencing.…

I have never experienced therapy, but always had imagined how the process would be. I pictured a couch and a therapist on a fancy chair like in the movies, and I would just lay there and vent about my problems. Initially, I was very excited to see someone whom I can speak with and possibly help me resolve my issues, but that excitement did not last long. Anxiety kicked in as I got a phone call from the therapist, informing me that we would start next week. I started to become very nervous about the whole client-therapist relationship, for what if I did not connect with.…
