Culpeper County Argumentative Essay

Improved Essays
As part of my intent to run for Sheriff, I would like to take this opportunity to share my platform with the voters of Culpeper County.

In this great country, there are battles between the haves and the have not 's, the criminals and the law abiders, the strong and the weak, the right and the left, the believers and the non-believers, gun owners, and those that are anti-gun, those for marijuana legalization, and those against. The list is never ending. There is no perfect solution that will fix all of these issues. There is no perfect solution that will ensure all parties are 100% satisfied. You are then left to decide where you stand, and how you will participate in life from day to day. As most of these issues are being fought at the national

L. Moody advised: "Do all the good you can, to all the people you can, in all the ways you can, as long as you can." I sincerely believe this is a great quote for all of us to live by.

Lastly, I want to talk about community.

Community is defined as: “A group of people sharing a common interest and relating together socially.” It has been said, "If you want to travel fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." I believe the way ahead will be built upon community partnerships.

Partnerships and a sense of community bring people, desires, hopes and goals to the forefront, and make them achievable. I made up my mind to run for Sheriff over three years ago. I knew then that building partnerships and relationships with people and businesses, both inside and outside of our County, would benefit our community.

With this decision, I began collaborating with dedicated professionals to help guide this process and move this plan forward. All of these individuals have a vested interest in our great County. They live here, work here, or in other ways have a connection to our community. I intend to keep focused on what we need in Culpeper, and bring solutions from within, before we look beyond our own capabilities and

Also if the federal government would decide to make Providence Canyon a national park schools could use it as a school field trip to go and explore the different sand colors there is in Providence Canyon national park. If schools are willing the price to go for a school field trip imagine all the money you could get from just one single school trip. If that is a lot of money already imagine if all the schools would go to see the providence Canyon for a field trip you would make a profit. Making the Providence Canyon a national park could also be a good family trip for a summer vacation. Teachers could also take there students to the Providence Canyon to study the forty three colors of different types of color sediments.…

Chris Hampton and Catie Heaven (2016) said that it is important to understand our community – what it is and its nature. Traditionally, community is understood as people in a given geographical location, to any group that share common things. People are classified according to what they are, what they belief, and what they do for a living. In our community we have people from royal families and ordinary people, those from royal family they were treated as prince and princess because of the power that they have but nowadays they live like us even though we show respect to the chiefs or kings.…

Archbishop Williams High School appears to me like a great place to thrive educationally and socially. Five of my cousins have attended Archbishop Williams High School and my grandmother and her sister also attended Archbishop Williams High School. They all have nothing but positive feedback about the school and it’s environment. They all went on to exceptional colleges after Archbishop Williams High School. I also have a friend who went to Archbishop Williams in eighth grade two years ago when it was first offered.…

I don’t believe that any town should just give up and die. Smaller towns tend to have less to work with but that’s no excuse for allowing their city to fall into ruins. Community leaders and members have to realize that growth doesn’t just happen magically, it must be worked for. Community leaders have to research and find brokers and economic developers to help their town to grow and flourish. This allows those brokers and developers to grow their assets and the community to grow in ways they could of never imagined.…

As I have been reading and researching communities, most follow similar general patterns and outlines. The community members are working together for a common goal or they are brought together by corresponding qualities. When I think of the word community it is usually with a positive connotation rather than negative. In Amy Tan’s essay, she introduced a community that her mother was apart of that caused me to rethink my definition of community. Her mother was apart of a community of “broken” and/or “limited” English speakers by default because she could not speak our language properly according to our rules of grammer.…

As the sun's rays beat upon the farmers, grapes grew lusciously across the striped farmland. Standing as sentries, hills surrounded the farmland. Near the east side of the farmland, a small river snaked it’s way through the land, providing the juvenile grapes with its fresh water. This serene scene is nested within the town of Maple Creek, a town best known for its grapes. “The freshest types of grapes can be found here!” claims a sign that welcomes all newcomers.…

In this argument, the arguers concludes that residents living in the Leevile town (L town) have relaxed pace of life because of their fewer sick days than Masonton city (C city), and lower rate of diagnosis of stress-related illness. At first glance, the argument appears to be convincing, however, further reflection reveals that it suffers from at least three logic flaws. Firstly, the number of days of sick leave taken by individuals does not necessarily indicate their health status. In order to justify the argument, the arguer should provide explanations like L town’s workers will not still at work if they feel uncomfortable, or the only reason of asking for sick leave is they are indeed ill.…
