Together We Stand Essay

my platform: My perspective of life has to do with joining together no matter our differences. My platform is “Together We Stand”, my reasoning for choosing this platform is because there are so many things in the world that divide people; however, my opinion on that is that rather than choosing to see our differences as something that divides us, why don’t we use our differences to bring us together? My favorite quote is, “What we do for ourselves alone dies with us, what we do for the world and others remains and is immortal.” This is my favorite quote because it puts into perspective how little our time on this earth truly is and how rather than spending our limited town fights, we should be trying to make the world a better place for …show more content…
I began learning classical Indian dance at the age of 3, and have continued ever since. In January of 2016, I had the wonderful opportunity to dance a solo piece with the world renowned Nipa and Shibli from Bangladesh. Apart from dance, I have always been involved in many cultural events, such as theatre, singing and much more. These cultural experiences have shaped me as the person I am today. However, another incredibly influential aspect of who I am today would have to be my school. I do not attend a public school, but rather a charter school and although the academic aspect of my school is incredibly rigorous I would not leave my school. My school is considerably small and that is what makes us a family, we live, learn and grow together and it’s and inspiring environment. At school I have taken leadership in many extra curricular, I am currently Varsity Cheerleading Captain, as well as Youth and Government President, Student Council Parliamentarian, National Beta Club Vice President and a member of The Arlington Mayor’s Youth Council. All of these experiences have allowed me to grow as a person. The most influential moments of my life, however, would have to be from Pageantry. Although, my time in pageantry has not been long it has taught me more than one could imagine. Everyone is both inspiring with their achievements, as they are humble. National American Miss is such a wonderful pageant system, I truly

The short interview with Lauren Anderson is so inspiring that gives me an insight into passion and success as well as motivates me to persist in following my dream. Anderson’s story of her career as a principal ballerina seems quite simple and typical as she started early at seven, soon became a principal dancer of Houston Ballet, and then now is giving back to the society by teaching ballet to children of “underserved” community. However, I believe behind that story are all strenuous efforts and untiring perseverance along with her outstanding talent that kept her lifelong dream alive and made it come true. I can feel in her a great passion for the ballet career in every word she said and every story she told. Because ballet is hard and highly…

Something happened on my dance team this past summer where I received an award for “Most Improved Dancer”. I was feeling discouraged as well as confused on what I wanted to do involving dance in general. The support from my directors and teammates could not have put a bigger smile on my face. All of the claps, hugs, and high-fives meant so much to me. .I was filled with pure happiness, but had so much uncertainty on whether I wanted to stay committed or remove myself from this group.…

I have been a member of the Marvin Ridge Dance Teams for seven years, and I have made many friendships and memories that will last forever from being a part of such a wonderful athletic team. Dance team has taught me a great deal about teamwork, dedication, and hardwork. Each of the four years that I have been a member of the Marvin Ridge Varsity Dance Team, we have qualified for the National Dance Team Championship in Orlando, Florida.…

When each day begins I ponder upon what my future will hold. Each time my memories change, and twist, and morph to fit my idea of a perfect existence. However, the one memory that remains clear as day, is the day received a phone call that would change my outlook on life. It was a call from the director of the Miss USA Organization asking if I was interested in becoming Miss Issaquah Teen USA. Knowing that this was a pity call I graciously declined, but no matter what I did I could help but think about it; over the next few weeks I google and researched all that anyone would ever want to know about pageants.…

“Worldviews shape not just our individual lives, but universities as well.” (Why College Matters To God, 20) I believe that the main way that we should live in the world is through listening to and being able to talk to people openly about differences in beliefs and social differences. If one strives to be conscious of and learn from other points of views and experiences, one can be enlightened and educated in things that they might have missed otherwise.…

A new journey in my life began on August 13th, 2014 as my school principal cut the red ribbon celebrating the opening of a brand new high school. Little did I know, it would become a journey of growth and unique experiences unlike any before it, further refining and adding to my inner sculpture of identity and talent. I was going to Liberty High School, therefore it was necessary that I adapt--quickly, yet strategically. Throughout my life, I had never imagined that my high school experience would reach and exceed my expectations in the way that it did. I had the unique opportunity most people don’t get in life: to be part of a grassroots movement in establishing a culture that would enrich future students with tradition and values for many years to come.…

People are shaped by their surroundings. These influences come in the form of anything from elementary school teachers to religious awakenings, from mission trips to news articles. For me, these influences come in the form of dance, God, and opportunity. Unexpectedly, dance has made a major impact on who I am. Though I started at age three, I've been dancing at a Vaganova-style ballet academy for seven years.…

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted” —Aesop In a world full of hate and war, most people forget that a small act of random kindness can change even the saddest of hearts. Kindness has become a foreign language, one I make an effort to practice everyday. I work in a coffee shop, which requires a tremendous about of patience, as well as hospitality and customer service. Everyday, I make it apparent to myself that you never know what is going through an individual's mind, or the day they have had.…

“When your music begins, you will be in competition mode.” I took a deep breath, it was showtime. I was introduced to the world of competitive dance in August of 2011 and ever since, dance has been the outlet for all of my emotions. I started off as a shy little girl who hid in the corner, barely extending her limbs as I attempted to mock those in front of me. As time elapsed, I persevered through challenging ten hour practices and the taunting of my peers.…
