My philosophy of religion and my philosophy of philosophy are marginally diverse than the way people may evaluate religion, before I share my thoughts, allow me to provide you some background of my life. Being born at the end of the 60’s and the turn of a new decade, gone were the flower power days and enter soul power, power to the people, and the Black and I’m proud movement. The ethnic temperature of that period remained extremely hot in the nation while growing up in North Philadelphia. My parents were exceptionally energetic during the civil rights movement in the city of Philadelphia, therefore my parents had a varied twist on religion. They were tremendously sweet people who had a background in faith embedded by their parents. However they were always ready to defend their rights as human beings within the laws laid before them.
My grandmother who was an ordained Pentecostal Minister for many years, raised her 6 children in the church. The church stood a home and a resource for many in the community. The people that belonged to this church fed the hungry, clothed the naked and paid bills for those that needed assistance. The Pentecostal church falls under the blanket of Christianity and are closely related the Holiness the church. Christianity is one of the three Abrahamic Faiths. Pentecostal churches focus on the Holy Spirit through baptism as evidenced by speaking in tongues. My Grandmother frequent church for, training, pursuing knowledge, praying, and singing, therefore we all were required to learn.
