What Makes A Good Person?

Improved Essays
I’ve always been curious on how my mind worked. What is my personality, what are my defining traits? As I nearly complete this personality profile, my thoughts race to figure out what kind of person am I. A good person, or am I a bad person; selfish or selfless? Do I enjoy being a social butterfly or am I a lone wolf? As I wonder, I can answer my own questions by looking back at past experiences, situations, and relationships: I like people and crowds, I like to laugh and joke around, I am understanding, and a good worker. Overall, I am a good person, not the greatest but good. As I finish the last question and my thoughts immediate cut to results of the Big five on the next screen. I can truly see who I am.

“you are somewhat extraverted. You probably prefer to be around people a lot of the time and are sociable, outgoing, energetic, and lively. Most likely, you do not often keep others at a distance and you probably spend a good amount of time chatting, even with people you've never met. You probably enjoy large parties and meeting new people”, according to the S.A.P.A results.
My score in neuroticism is 44 meaning that I am more even tempered than most people. I don’t or rather never have never experienced mood swings or reacted strongly to stressful situations. I enjoy doing calming things such as yoga and some meditating. There are times where I show strong emotion; however, it is a rare and short lived instance. I do go through negative emotions, yet they are not as strong or as intense as the average person.
My lowest score and the least correct, I believe to be, is my openness at 39. Looking at all five I can easily see that they hover around the mid-point, some aspects of each categories spectrum may blur with a given moment or situation. Looking at my agreeableness I tend to be less empathetic to others and lack any interesting an individual that I am not trying to build a relationship or is not my family and friends. My self-interest is high, however, there are parts of my personality where sometimes I care about others and I am willing to work with others for the sake of the cause. My conscientious is on the low side but it does describe my work ethic. As a worker, I am hard working, devoted, and reliable on completing a task in an orderly fashion. I have goals that I am constantly working hard for even if evidence of progress is invisible to others, the proof is in the pudding. How I see work is a job that complete and try to do your best than last time because business is all about being better next time. Extra work or being a workaholic should never dominate the job nor delay gratification on long term projects. A brewski, after a long nine-to-five, is well deserved one. My extraversion took me by surprise. I grew up as an only child and enjoyed being by myself, but I also missed much of social interaction with other kids my age. Growing up this trait has increased in its sociability. I prefer to be around people a lot of the time and be sociable on

Even now, I prefer staying at home by myself and reading than actually going out and putting forth the effort to try to be social. Agreeableness is the next trait which exhibits how we as people cooperate and get along with others. I scored a total of 64 on this trait which puts me in the moderate range. Having a good level of agreeableness helps me keep relationships together but also helps me in solving conflicts without having someone to compromise something they want completely, and always coming to a compromise where it is fair. I am friendly and helpful and I want people to be able to see me as someone that they can come to. The 4th trait is Neuroticism which is a condition that is marked my mental distress and emotional suffering which leads to a difficulty in coping with the normal demands of life.…
