As a child of immigrants that grew up in a very negatively charged society, it became clear for me at early years of my existence that adapting my behavior and communication can help to survive discriminations. I acted and talked in different ways depending on the people that surrounded me. However, that was in Russia where people are still afraid to show their true ethnicity or ideas because of the amount of racists that occupy the country. So, how can adapting our behavior and way of talking help us in a civilized and safe country as USA? Leaving a great impression is an important part of communication in any field including professional, academic, and just in social as general. Although I do think this expression takes the aspect to the extreme, it has some truth in it. Since I was a kid, I always paid a lot of attention to the clothes of people and to clothing for specific events. For some reasons, it always interested me. Moreover, at one point, I applied those observations and knowledge to my behavior. One of the examples of that is the way I dress for the school. I haven’t ever dressed in athletic uniform for any school day even though sometimes it would make my life much easier because I had sport after the school. The reason behind of that behavior is that I always had the idea in my mind that wearing athletic clothes in front of teachers and academic people is showing disrespect and ignorance. Although I completely understand that it might not be that case at all, it still makes me feel uncomfortable to wear that kind of clothes for the school. Yet my habit brought me positive views because many teachers personally told me how much they appreciated my professional look. Writing this paper provokes very unique experience of analyzing my own social behavior and skills. However, this kind of analysis also forces me to learn the ways my impression management tools can be beneficial or not. One thing is clear that it is very easy to leave a negative impression, and the whole idea of deeply thinking about our social and communicational habits is to find the most rational and effective way of being successful person in any field. The skills of communication are one of those features that significantly stand out if they are well developed, and the beauty is that we have the full power to learn and evolve
