Value plays an important role as well as personal code of ethics in one’s life. Each individual has his/her own values and code of ethics whether they are aware of them or not. A person’s value is different from others. Every day, values shape our behavior, and they reflect our mode of conduct and instruct us through our life. Value is based on one’s experience, family background and environment where we interact with the others every day. A person’s values and code of ethics not only have affection in his/her own life, but also affect many people in society. The assignment will mention about my core value, also analyze my own personal code of ethics, and describe briefly the process I use to make decision when I face to an ethical dilemma.

I highly value family in my life. Family means so much to me, no matter what happens, they always have my back. In my life journeys, I am tough to be a good person, who always respect the other and honor precious things in life. Family also supports me whenever I have to face the difficulty. As we know, we already have best friends but our friends could not stay with us and could not sacrifice everything for us as well as our family could. In some countries, many orphans have a difficult life, they do have parents by their side and they also have to face the starving, one after another in their whole life. Therefore I always appreciate every precious things that I have now, especially, my family. Family is my first priority. I will bring them joy and always keep the faith in them. After choosing my value and ethics, I try to take advantage of them by applying these in my daily life. For example, if I face an ethical dilemma related to my family, I will put my family value as my number one priority, thinking about them first. After that, I am able to continue my decision making process. Second, I have learnt some ethical theories in the class, so I figure out that some of them are useful for me. Ethical theories comprise two categories: consequential and non-consequential, while utilitarianism theory is part of consequential, being an action of moral which plays an important role in business. The reason I choose utilitarianism model as a step of my making decision process, because it is flexible and useful for decision makers. Its benefits are to recognize interest of all and this theory is easy for me to resolve conflict and interest. When I make decision for ethical dilemma situation, I want related people still feel happy and glad even it is just a tiny happiness. Last but not least, I will use bounded rationality in decision making to choose the simplified and essential captures of decision without capturing all the complexity. And my decision certainly comprises integrity and mutual respect component as my code of ethics.
