Personal Diversity Story
I would define diversity as the many kinds of differences people have. This can by physical and mental differences. People come from thousands of different backgrounds and they all have their own story to tell. These different backgrounds form the diversity in society.

I was homeschooled till eighth grade, and then went to a very small private school till I graduated. My best friend was a girl I met at my church who also came from a large catholic family. Most of the other friends I had when I was young where church friends. As I got older, I had the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds than myself through work and going to a large public college. Now there are many african american athletes and people rarely think anything of it. Certainly there are still people with racist mindsets, but it is nothing compared to what it was like fifty years ago. That is putting extremists aside.
Personal Impact of Diversity
As I get older my views change slowly. I have learned to be more understanding of people who come from different racial and religious backgrounds. I still have confidence that my belief system is correct and logical and will take me where I want to go in life, but I understand that other people have been raised differently and do not think the same way I do.
My college experience has had little impact my outlook on diversity. It is more so the friends I have met over the past few years through my work. I have met people who were different than me and who had slightly different belief systems. I also put effort into researching new ideas or problems. This has taught me that I should always have reasons for what I believe in and that judgements should never be made too
