My Personal Spiritual Journey

I would like to share my story/ journey on how I heard from God. I was baptised as a baby into the Anglican Church, married into the Catholic Church and like all other believers prayed and attended church on a regular basis. I thought that was enough to get me into the Kingdom. I was very active in the Anglican Church, I was part ofthe worship team/choir, was a Sunday school teacher and a youth leader and at the same time was a full time college student.

I actually gave my life to the Lord when I was 19years old. Life was like any other normal Christian that attends church. Although I was active and serving in church, on a regular basis, I now realise I had a religion and not a real relationship with God.

My new and exciting journey started about two years ago. For no

My f iend for life Bernadette Burrel, who I met over 30 years ago, she is more like a sister and she introduced me to Christ, sent me this message on the night of my water baptism.
She declared or prophesy this via a text message to me: There will be a manifestation of the presence of the power of God tonight. May you also experience the baptism of the Holy Spirit:

Blessing I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit exactly a month later and for the f irst time I experience the utterance of the Holy Spirit, twice in the same week.
I have since experienced more peace, although I am still in the valley, but trusting Jesus Christ seems so much easier now. I now realise that I need to grow spiritually, and it is not about what God can do or give me. I need to worship Him at all times. It is this peace that allows me to keep going and to to fulf il my destiny. If we want to hear from God, we need to ask. This is the conf idence we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
1 John 5:14

As the saying goes.
I am not where I must be, but thank God I am not where I used to

For years I have struggled on what was right and what was wrong and what was good and what was bad. I have often questioned God and wondered why certain things happen to people or why I felt like he wasn’t listening. Although my relationship with Christ is like a roller-coaster I learn something new from him every day. All my unanswered questions were not God’s fault, but mine. I realized that after so many years of questioning and sometimes being frustrated with God that he gave me all the right tools and people I needed to understand him, but it was my fault for not willing to actually listen or pay attention to him.…

My life before my conversion consisted mainly of growing up in a Southern Baptist Church. Throughout my life I have heard the gospel countless times, but never accepted it as absolute truth to follow. Instead, my life until college was characterized by performing a lot of religious activity such as youth groups, church camps, and going to church on Sundays. I was in a tireless attempt to live out a religion that proved I was good enough to be declared righteous before God. It was a restless attempt to be whatever everyone else want me to be.…

I began the journey with the text by reading the entire lectionary for Advent. I rested on each briefly on a daily basis over the course of a week gradually narrowing the selections to Luke 2:1-10. The verse that called to me from the text was “Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.” It speaks to Mary’s role as the mother of the most important and influential child. She wants to treasure and remember the special moments as her child grows, but for me as a Christian, parent and pastor, I wanted to treasure and ponder this sacred story seeking to understand the best way to share with the body of Christ today.…

My spiritual journey of faith has turned me into more of a “mutt” than a “purebred” Christian because of the variety of denominations and international churches that I have experienced so far in my life. For starters, I grew up in a “every Sunday” church family. In fact, I was at church the very next Sunday after being born. My first church was part of the Assemblies of God. However, a few years later my parents divorced and we ended up at a non-denomination church, where I spent the next 20 years.…
