The goal for my personal project is to educate people on the evolution and history of personal computing. I want to make it fun for them to learn, because when most people think of workings with computers, they think that it’s difficult and boring. It is a fine line between having enough information and boring people, and i need to walk it carefully. The final product will be a website. I picked a website because it is the most flexible way to display information. I can display it how i want it to be shown, and i can customize the experience for each page. A website also makes it possible to present all kinds of devices with the experience, rather than an operating system specific application. More people will be able to access it. I chose personal computing because not only is it a big part of my life, but everyone’s. The large majority of the developed world uses personal computers everyday, whether it be for personal or work. No one can ever really appreciate how monumental the feats of engineering that are used

It contains a lot of info for 3 sections, the PC, the GUI and today. Although Apple is not always the most popular, they’ve been a part of almost every major technical innovation since the start of the PC era. The book talks about the history of him and his best friend, Steve Wozniak, who together, started Apple Computers, the first company to release a successful personal computer. The book contains lots of extracts about everything leading up, all the development and research. The great thing is that Apple is still a current company, so it progresses through history, with all the different game changes, which is exactly what I need. The book is credible because its an authorized biography, and Steve Jobs is not someone to authorize something unless he’s 110% happy with it. At the same time this might bias the book by portraying Apple in a better light than it actually is, since it’s his

Introducing, When Corporations Rule the World, sounded a global alarm about twenty years ago. The consolidation of power in a global economy ruled by corporations posed a threat to markets, democracy, human, and life itself, that continues to grow. Within the cooperate power it is more operated beyond human control, its consequences begins to be more devastating and now the system collapse is more certain and approaching. Over the course of this unit on biographies, autobiographies, and memoirs, I read Becoming Steve Jobs by Brent Schlender and Rick Tetzeli, which is about Steven Paul Jobs, cofounder of Apple, Inc., Pixar, and NeXT Computers. Throughout the book, Schlender and Tetzeli write about Steve’s life, from his early college days to the final days of his life. The book contains information on Steve’s founding of Apple with Steve Wozniak, then his first tenure at Apple, his founding of Pixar and NeXT, and his return to Apple until his death. The book also shows how Steve’s personality evolved over time, from an arrogant, cold business man with little care for anyone or anything around him, into a loving, caring family man that had more humor and humility.…
