Personal Philosophy of Education

There are currently many different philosophies in education today, including but not limited to Montessori, progressivism, humanism, and many more. Through the class Foundations of Education my personal education philosophy has started to take form. I believe that a philosophy cannot stay the same through the course of ones teaching career, but as new findings are talked about an educators philosophy can change as well. Teaching the minds of young students is not a job to be taken lightly. Teaching is not just a job, but a lifestyle choice. A educator must fully understand the importance of their job. Education is an individual, and unique experience for each and every student who will enter into a classroom. A teacher should not just be relaying facts to passive students, but holding discussions and posing questions for their students to really grasp what is being taught. With aiding in a students education, teachers have the job of also facilitating growth not only academically, but also personally, and ethically. Purpose of education is for the youth of our country to be molded into lifelong learners, and emotionally healthy adults who can engage in meaningful relationships and conversations. In education the role of a student is to engage as active members of a team, and to be motivated in their own learning.
