Before defining my personal nursing philosophy I decided to invest time on research, I looked for meanings, definitions, theories, and samples. I found out that Philosophy, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary (1997), it is a “critical study of fundamental beliefs and the grounds for them, a basic theory concerning a particular subject, the sum of the ideas and convictions of an individual or group” (page. 552). I also looked for the definition of personal, which according to the same dictionary, it is “and adjective that refers of relating to or affecting a person” ("The merriam-webster dictionary," 1997, page. 548).While completing my research I correspondingly seek for the meaning “Nursing” has for the regular person, for the healthcare provider and even for other nurses. After completing all of that I dedicated my efforts to the terms advanced practice nursing.

Respect and total awareness of patient’s actions and reactions, applying all the scientific knowledge based on scientific evidence according to the situation and not overlooking the most important, the human component, all of these will enclose a full and appropriate patient care. I believe nursing is a profession, which involves great characteristics of an occupation; nursing is an art of healing body and soul, why an art? Because art, it “is a skill acquired by experience or study” ("The merriam-webster dictionary," 1997, page 57), and with this art, nurses heal people, take care of people, provide comfort, administer medications, manage organizations and facilities, and educate people such as patients, physicians, other healthcare providers and even lawmakers, nurses learn to be healers, nurses are artists of
