My first event is my baptism. When I was eight years old I decided to be baptised into the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I remember the feeling of the freezing cold water as I was dipped into the water that cold January morning. I was baptised by my dad on January 1, 2011. After that day I have had the companionship of the holy ghost that has helped my through everything I do and it helps and guides me through daily life. I am so thankful that I made this choice that can help me through trials.

This affected my life because it has made me stronger because I couldn’t see my dad for months at a time because after we lived in utah for 2 years we decided to move back to Idaho Falls because we missed life back in Idaho. So when we moved back to Idaho Falls, my dad stayed in utah so he could stay and earn money for our family until he could get a job here in Idaho. So every monday morning he would leave for work and then he would stay with my great aunt and uncle until saturday night then he would drive home saturday night then he would stay for sunday then drive back to work the next morning. This went on for about 6 months until he decided that he just needed to come home and stay with the family and look for a job in Idaho. This changed my life because it brought my family closer as a family and we now love each other more than we did

Faith is the belief in something greater than us one can put full trust, confidence, and reliance on when difficult times arise. I was raised to be involved with church activities to maintain my spiritual life; additionally my faith grew dramatically when my cousin deceased and gave me an overview of what I wanted to pursue my career as. When I was a child, my parents encouraged me to always be as loving and caring as I could be, not for personal gain, but to be benevolent to the people around me. I was raised with two loving parents, Mario and Rebeca, along with a younger brother, Mario and older sister, Ana.…

It couldn’t have been past 10 a.m. when the alarm went off. We all knew what it meant- we were firefighters, it’s what we do. The fire chief told us that an apartment complex in downtown Boston had gone ablaze, and that it was really bad. We quickly got into our uniforms and hopped on as the fire truck left the station. We were a few miles away before I saw the smoke, a dark giant against the bright blue sky.…

My personal narrative, though it may not be viewed as “compelling” to readers, was a compelling experience to me as I went through it. The setting in my narrative, simply locates me in the woods somewhere in a deer blinded. Being away from civilization for 5 days was much needed during that time in my life. Watching and living in the wilderness, watching as the day awakens as well as the wild life until the moment the sunsets and other unknown dangers come to a…

Everyone has a haunting moment in their life, one that’s so traumatizing and horrible that it perpetually replays in their minds. For me, that moment occurred in the early days of summer 2015. I was stuck home babysitting my two little siblings for the day while the rest of my family was in Baton Rouge at some birthday party I didn't go to because I really didn’t like the entire parents hosting it. You know the type. The ones that don’t know what a blinker is.…

You can’t learn if you don’t try When I was in my childhood, I was a very timid person. I was afraid to try all the new things and meet new people. As a result, my dad began to encourage me to try out different things, such as swimming, playing piano and playing tennis, because he thought that if I tried many things, I could become more talented and outgoing. I used to be an obstinate person. If I firmly believe in one thing, it is hard to change my mind.…

There is nothing greater than helping your grandparents on their large ranch in the middle of Kansas. That was what I was thinking as I hopped on my grandmother Patrice’s horse named Watermelon. My mother told me, my grandparents owned a gigantic ranch, so I instantly wanted to come out and help them and learn about cattle.. They had a bunch of cattle on their farm that they have to care for everyday, so I decided to assist them with caring for their animals. Once I climbed back up on my horse, I rode up to my grandpa Jim, who was waiting for me on his horse.…

My hand shut the door so the cold couldn’t come in and then ran to change out of my Starbucks uniform and into my warmest clothes. A smile drew on my face from wrapping myself in blankets and then I grabbed a bag of chips for a snack. My munching was intermittent with the sound of the ticking clock. *Sigh,* I began to think about how hard this year has been and how it felt like something was missing. When I’m with my friends, I am happy but only while I’m there.…

Introvert By:Sahil Patel 9-2 The cool summer breeze blew across my backyard, caressing my face. The sun drowned in the horizon, with its bright lights glimmering in the darkness of the clouds. Instead of enjoying the amazing sunset, I was lying down, motionless, staring dead center into my Nintendo 3DS. My battery suddenly died just as I was about to finish the last quest of Lego the Hobbit where you had to fight Sauron.…
