In India on 2015 on a Sunday, me, my brother, my mom, my aunt, and my cousin sister were going to my grandparents house in a minivan or a car or a eight seater. My grandfather’s friend was driving the car. I was sitting at the back of the car with my mom, eating cookies. It was so hot back there, it was like the sun was right beside me. It took me a lot of time, but finally, I was done with my cookies. It was a long drive, but it felt like it’s taking forever. In India there are still trains many Indians ride. You can go to any city, town, or village on train in India. There are busses like that. We don’t need plane, but I still don’t understand why we didn’t choose those kind of transportations. She didn’t ask me anything I think because she understood what happened or I think it was an emergency. “Come inside quickly!” my mom says. Quickly, I came in. I was immediately taken to the hospital. There the doctor told me “ wear this mask so I won’t see what are we doing.” They think if I don’t I will get terrified. But still I was terrified so I ran to my mom. I was not scared of the surgery, but I was scared that I can’t see what’s happening. Like what are they going to do? They told me it’s going to be fine. But I still don’t understand why they didn’t give me the sleeping injection. I told my mom “I’m scared!” “It’s going to be fine,” my mom answers. I trusted the doctors and my mom, and went inside with the doctors. No one was not allowed in the surgery room and it was in the third floor and my family members were on the first …show more content…
In the middle of the surgery I asked the doctor that “Why do I even need a surgery anyway,” I get no response. After the surgery, I was taken to my grandparents house. Unluckily, I don’t live near the hospital. I live many miles away in a another city. The hospital was in a city which was right beside my grandparents’ town, and I have to go to the hospital every week. So I was with my grandparents for ten months. I didn’t go to school for ten months to because of the finger. But, now a new nail grew and I’m just fine. I got a surgery because at first they thought stitching the nail would work, but after five months they told me it would not work. They said if it’s still there I would get an infection. So they took it out. And I came to know that a new nail will grow. Now I learned that I should never overreact and I changed. I used to overreact for silly reasons, but now I don’t

I even brought my mom’s favorite dog, even though the nurse told me to be careful because he could get in to a lot of trouble if anyone saw me take him into her room. When I set him down on top of my mom’s bed, he was scared. He didn’t know what had become of my mom; he didn’t know what any of those tubes did. When my mom woke up, we had to tell her that her dog had licked her a lot; she would feel hurt if she learned that her dog was scared of her.…

Now me being fourteen at the time I couldn’t comprehend the severity of what she saying. Surprisingly enough, I just smiled and continued to make jokes about my scar. After missing three weeks of school my peers were astonished by how I was so comfortable about talking about the giant scab, pus- oozing, scar around my neck. It couldn’t have been past 10 a.m. when the alarm went off. We all knew what it meant- we were firefighters, it’s what we do. The fire chief told us that an apartment complex in downtown Boston had gone ablaze, and that it was really bad. We quickly got into our uniforms and hopped on as the fire truck left the station. We were a few miles away before I saw the smoke, a dark giant against the bright blue sky.…

My personal narrative, though it may not be viewed as “compelling” to readers, was a compelling experience to me as I went through it. The setting in my narrative, simply locates me in the woods somewhere in a deer blinded. Being away from civilization for 5 days was much needed during that time in my life. Watching and living in the wilderness, watching as the day awakens as well as the wild life until the moment the sunsets and other unknown dangers come to a…

I sat there in the hard seat of my desk and waited patiently. The scent of Lysol was overwhelmingly powerful in the room, but I knew by the third week it would be overpowered by the smell of musty children and chalk dust. I could not wait for my new teacher to saunter up to me, eyes full of admiration, and give me my paper. I had worked hard on it for nearly two months during the summer prior to this new school year. Looking around the room at my new classmates, it was easy to tell who had done the summer assignments, especially with their conspicuous faces.…

It was the day of my 8th birthday, February 19th, 1992. I woke up at an unpleasant time of 6:39 AM. Last night he said to me, “Euripides, do you know why I go out into the cruel world and protect complete strangers?” I shook my head...…
