I am Kramer Miller, a resident of New Palestine, IN, a student at Ball State, a son, a brother, a friend, and a leader. Many different parts of my life have transformed me into the leader I am today. I have changed a lot in my journey to become an effective leader, and am happy to have been given the opportunities that have been presented to me. From the role models that I have observed both good and bad, to the different experiences that I have lived through, my leadership style has constantly been evolving. As I learn what techniques work best for me, I have developed my own leadership style, and have done the best I can to benefit others with it. All of this together has helped me develop …show more content…
I see myself working my way up in a company over several years until I am in a managerial position. However, there is also the possibility that I could end up starting my own company after several years of working in the telecommunications industry. There are numerous possibilities for me out there, if only I am brave enough to pursue them. I envision myself continuing to live a blessed life. I hope to work hard, as my parents have done, in order to provide my family with everything they will need. The hope is that I will eventually find a job where I am excited to get out of bed every day to go to. In my personal experience, I have come to believe that you can sometimes learn as much from observing bad leaders, as you can from good leaders. Some examples of this can be seen in the past two years with a few of the on-campus organizations that I have been a part of. Media Analytics Club taught me a lot about what I don’t want to do and be as a leader. The importance of setting an agenda before meetings is something that I never knew how important it was until I saw a group run without this. There went several meetings where we never seemed to accomplish anything, and we just seemed to be doing the same trivial tasks repeatedly. There are only so many times that you can go over what you are going to do, and eventually you need to actually do it. Another thing I learned from these meetings was that you need to try and keep all of your group members involved. There were many times where the exec board members were off doing their own thing, and they left most of the new members sitting at the conference table wondering what we were supposed to do. I want to make sure that I keep all members of groups that I am a leader in involved. This will be so that everyone can feel like they are an important part of the group, and not wasting their time showing up like I felt. In another group that I was a part of, the cooking show Slice that Price, we often had
