This project is very successful, to such an extent that Ofsted mentioned it in their school report and very recently won a TES School Award 2015 in the school Community Collaboration category award. I have been responsible for developing a curriculum and staff recruitment for the supplementary school. Working on these initiatives has helped me to develop effective ways to communicate with parents and I have advised parents how to motivate and inspire their children, also to hear the challenges parents face to inspire these kids. As a result of this I have been able to relate to the challenges families face in today’s technological age where kids are so easily distracted by games and social sites. This has helped to make children motivated constantly and make maths fun and interesting. I have worked with the Somali community for the past seven years in helping community to overcome educational disadvantages as a result the Somali pupils in Abraham Moss Community School has been top of the school GCSE results despite the challenges Somali pupils face in terms of economic hardship, lack of education with in the families and lacking confidence in exceling education no mater of your back

Each person has his or her individual path to follow, no two paths are exactly the same; but, every now and then, paths interweave and people construct bonds with each other. In the case of Sonny and his brother, the narrator, in James Baldwin’s short story, “Sonny’s Blues”, their paths were parallel with one another until they grew up. Sonny left the slums of Harlem, aspiring to become a musician, while his brother settled in Harlem and became a teacher. Although the narrator and his brother ended up with completely different lives, the narrator being a family man with a teaching job and Sonny, an ex-convict playing jazz at a club, are ironically more similar than they are portrayed.…

I knew from a young age that teaching was what I was meant to do. Shadowing a teacher for a day in eight grade cemented for me that I was going to be a teacher. While the age of the student I was wanting to teach has changed as I've gotten older that drive to teach has never left. Working as an Educational Assistant at St. Louis Community College has only poured gasoline on that fire and passion for teaching. I can no longer put off pursuing my education to become a mathematics professor.…

The people with the largest impact have the ability to change everything. The steps that I take today will shape the rest of my life, but the steps I take as a teacher will impact generations to come. I want to become a teacher not only to pass on knowledge, but to have a greater, lasting impact on the next generation. The knowledge passed on will help students to succeed, but it is the experiences they have that will last a lifetime. The responsibility of a teacher is far greater than many realize; they must learn how their students learn and adapt to better suit those needs.…

Why I Teach: During my senior year, the high school I attended offered its first computer class. I eagerly enrolled and learned BASIC on an Apple IIe. My first program was a game similar to Boggle's word search. I meticulously drew up my project plan, spent hours in my room at night working through the logic of my program, carefully entered my code, and, remarkably, it worked! I shared it with my classmates, who then asked me to show them how to bring their own visions to life.…

My adherence to the tenets of critical realism informs my teaching philosophy. Using the philosophical lens of critical realism, I see that students’ background, beliefs, abilities, values, skills, engagement style, and adherence to social work values and standards are different in every class. As an instructor, I feel it is important to understand each classroom dynamics to enhance students’ learning experiences. So, my basic teaching philosophy is to understand diversity and be open to diverse means of instruction, action, expression, engagement. I see my role in the classroom as a learner and a facilitator than an expert, as I believe in reciprocal and experiential learning.…

“A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning”. (Brad Henry) Not every person can be a teacher; it takes a certain kind of individual to be a teacher. Some qualities that teachers consume are patient, kindness, passionate, knowledge, and heart, also there are other many formal qualities that a teacher must need to be successful. At twelve years old in seventh grade I had this teacher that inspired me to become a teacher and ever since then, becoming a teacher has been a priority.…

During my CSL I have learned four very important things that I will use every day in my teaching career. I learned the importance of knowing students names and the importance of not ignoring the little things. I also learned that it is okay to tell students their work is not good enough and that having high expectations for students will help them grow as learners. Of course I have learned many other small things, but the above mentioned four are in my opinion the most influential for my future career teaching.…
