1. Searching for a college was incredibly stressful for me. I wanted a school where I could happily live, learn, and thrive. None of the campuses I toured felt like they could be a home, until I visited Emmanuel. The campus was beautiful and the food was actually good. But, what really sold me was talking with the student ambassadors. Their knowledge and honesty helped relieve the anxiety I felt about my college search and they allowed me see the possibility of a wonderful future here at Emmanuel. I am interested in being a student ambassador because I want to aid those students who are struggling in the same situation that I was a year ago, just like the students I met helped me. The most frustrating part of my college search was finding the right fit. For me, that meant going to a school where I felt comfortable and could get an effective education. At some schools I felt like a number rather than a person. Other schools felt like one big party and I wasn’t sure where and if any learning was happening. Discovering those things are tremendously discouraging. However, this frustration and discouragement is in no way unique to me. Most students and parents face the same problems to some degree. By sharing my experience and showing what I found at Emmanuel to resolve these fustrations, perhaps I could relate to possible students and give some confidence to prospective families.
3. Nerves have always been my worst enemy. I get nervous when meeting new people and starting a conversation with them. I use to come near fainting when it came to public speaking. However, it is a fear I constantly have to face and it becomes easier every time. I have had the opportunity train extensively in techniques of public speaking and effective communication and have gone on to tech these skills to others. Nerves will always be a challenge for me, but I now know how to handle them and move
