Any person should always strive to develop himself holistically in order to be called a professional and I have made sure that this was my mantra of success.
It is rightly said that the impressions made on our mind during our childhood remain with us throughout our entire lives and these shape us as we grow. Majority of my childhood was spent at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Quarters which is a lush green community with families from almost all the states of India, each with its own culture and heritage. I grew up learning from all these cultures and assimilating the best from all of them. As the saying goes, ‘Charity beings at home’ I learnt about

When we were taught about the generation of electricity from the burning of fossil fuels, the exhaustibility of these source of electricity took me by surprise and I was deeply concerned by the wastage of electricity. So for the science fair I built and demonstrated a photo-sensor which switched on and off with the intensity of light in its surroundings. This would translate into substantial savings in terms of both money and electricity. I was also the captain of the ‘Bhagat’ house at school and successfully led its students to excel in sports, inspired them to perform well in their exams and encouraged the students to participate in extra-curricular activities. Morality For Their Starvation Free enterprise often results in the establishment of a more stable economy, offering, as a result, more financial opportunities. Hope rapidly grew among Indians as the economic liberalization of 1991 took place, promising them many opportunities for social mobility. However, because of the corrupt institutional system of India, the momentum for social growth was rapidly halted. Author Katherine Boo, in her book Behind the Beautiful Forevers, reports the consequences of India’s corruption in its poorest habitants, specifically in Annawadi. Boo maintains that Annawadians knew only “three main ways out of poverty: finding an entrepreneurial niche… politics and corruption,” (62).…

Be the change you wish to see in the world; Mahatma Gandhi's words of wisdom still ring true to me in my everyday life. His words invoke me to look within myself and evaluate how my good deeds can somehow be powerful enough to change the world. Volunteering at Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls kindled a fire within me and made me realize that I will not tolerate being a bystander in the world; I must be proactive in order to see results. This center allowed me to see how simply packing, sorting, and shining shoes can help a young child's get to school easier, allow a young soccer play to sign up for their local team, or protect a child from walking on harsh terrain while trying to collect water. The reason why I volunteer is because I wish for the child's troubles to be nonexistent, I want to live in a world where people don’t have to worry about having a function pair of shoes.…

I have always considered my relationship with writing to be very insignificant. Although I enjoy spending time verbally expressing my thoughts and feelings to others, it becomes difficult when these thoughts and feelings are expressed through writing. Throughout my adolescent years, I would often receive feedback for my writing given by the teacher in the form of a grade. Being unable to effectively organize my thoughts and ideas into words and sentences, I would feel reluctant to continue writing confidently whenever I received an undesirable grade.…

The article, “Practice Doesn’t Make Perfect” by Maria Konnikova, believes and argues the opposite of what most people accept to be true, that practicing something can only get someone so far and that practice alone can never make someone perfect. Maria reported on her interview with a psychology teacher named Zach Hambrick who said he spent at least a thousand hours of practicing golf as a young adult hoping to make it to the PGA, but instead found himself not making the cut for his college golf team. Maria proposes that there are many other factors that play a role in helping someone become extremely talented, or even a professional, in various activities and hobbies in life other than just purely practice. Contrary to popular belief, Maria,…

Integrating more arts into the education system would aid students in feeling more involved in their education, It should be made mandatory that students choose at least two. There must be a balance of all subjects so that they are less likely to become disinterested. We are all being taught to think identical instead of thinking differently, or at least we are all taught the same.…

The question is posed, “Why are you here?” I understand clearly why this is a question this university asks every student who comes through its doors. I know they ask this because it is unclear in our society, why we need a college education. Many sources say that college degrees are useless and I have to agree with them. That one piece of paper is useless, as are most things in life, if the person who has it does not understand how to use it.…

This school year I enjoyed this English class because it was not very difficult, but it was not easy at all. This year we did so many assignments and some of them were analyzing poems, emulating poems, writing a theme of a poem, presenting a speech in class and then working as a group to create a chapter. I believe that I have grown throughout this school year. I have grown as a listener because back then I was not used to listening to poems without having a paper right in front of me.…
