Reflective Essay: Moving To A New Country

Moving to a new country is always hard, I had to leave most of my family members and friends behind, learn a new language, go to a new school, and make new friends and that wasn 't really easy for me. But during these 5 years I have accomplished many things. I came to America when I was 9 so I didn 't speak any English, besides a few basic terms. The first day of school was very confusing for me, it was different then what I was used to. My teacher introduced me and everyone said something that was probably either "Hi Helga" or "Hello Helga" because I remember hearing my name. One of the subjects that we had was a cooking class, our teacher gave us a recipe and we had to make it. We had to make omelets .Everyone started doing it but I had no …show more content…
It 's important to be resilient because things aren 't always going to be easy, one day you might have to face some challenges and you shouldn 't just give up, you should try your best. When a challenge comes up, you should have the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. Giving up won 't get you anywhere, you will miss many opportunities so you should have the ability to spring back into shape when you do something difficult. It 's important to be responsible because responsibility is the main factor that teaches us maturity, which pretty much defines that we are growing up. It also shows us that we care. During high school and college there I will have to do a lot of work that I will be responsible for, I shouldn 't blame others or come up with excuses for why I didn 't finish something, I am responsible for the things that I do, not others. Resilience and responsibility are two characteristics that I believe to be the most important in regards to being a scholar because if I get accepted in this program I will have to responsible for the work that I will have to do and they won 't be easy, so I need to try my best and not give up. If he sits at home, no one would offer him a job unless he initiates the job searching process. Hard work is the best and surest way to arrive to your goals. When you want to accomplish something you have to work hard for it, it isn 't just going to come your way easily. I 'm usually very hard working now but some days I wasn 't that much. A time when I was hard working was when we had to write an essay about one of the choices that were given and it was supposed to be 3-4 paragraphs. I chose to write an essay on what I would do in case of a zombie apocalypse, I worked hard on it, I did a lot of research and managed to write 4
