“She believed she could, so she did.” This motivational quote has inspired me in many ways throughout my high school years. Throughout my junior year of high school, academically, I feel like I have improved my time management skills by taking three AP classes as well as an after school class during second semester. On a personal level, I feel like I have grown to become more comfortable and confident in myself. One of the highlights of junior year was my ability to challenge myself as well as my ability to continue helping my community through volunteering. However, a setback for me would be not being able to participate because I decided to take the Criminal Justice class at Santa Ana High School. I wouldn’t consider this a major setback …show more content…
Although I had already expected a lot of reading, I should have prepared myself for that by making sure I had a reading plan that I would follow. Some strengths I discovered included my ability to review or study for tests. For second semester, I signed up for a Criminal Justice class after school, which would take away from the homework time I would have. Additionally, since I was taking AP classes, I knew that we would be going through intensive preparation for the AP exam. This threw the little time management skills I had off balance because I had to adjust to the new circumstances I was under. One project I am most proud would be the community service I have done. I am proud of my community service because I feel it represents the person I am becoming, which is someone who lends a hand to others in need. A project that I could have been better would be my Geometry scaling assignment because I did not put my best effort to make the enlarged gluestick as similar as possible to the regular sized Elmer’s glue stick. One thing that I can take away from this assignment is that I need to try to not procrastinate because I am the one who gets affected, either by receiving a low grade or gaining stress because of the length of the …show more content…
on Christmas Eve (Caring Educators Nourishing All). Every year, on Christmas Eve, hundreds of volunteers get together to help bring some holiday spirit to the less fortunate. This brings some joy to families under stressing financial situations. I actually did not know this event even existed until this year, but I enjoyed volunteering at C.E.N.A. mainly because it allowed me to see that our community is closer than it seems since we are willing to help others in our community who might not be as fortunate as us. I also enjoyed volunteering at C.E.N.A. because I was able to meet and talk to people in my

"Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence" I have had many ups and downs over the course of my life thus far. One specific example of this took place during my freshman year of high school. When I started high school it was very challenging for me, partially due to the fact that; during this time, I was lazy, unmotivated and did not really take school seriously. This by far is one of my biggest regrets to this day. Who would ever think that not trying during my freshman year would continue to follow me throughout the course of my academic career.…

In my freshman year of high school, I was placed into only one honors class, despite a strong academic record from junior high. Given my love of learning and excellence, I was exceedingly disappointed. Therefore, with the same resolution that I applied to my sports ambitions, I committed to my class time and homework. I met with my teachers when I had questions and tackled the material with energy and intensity. My efforts paid off!…

For the past year, I could only provide an indefinite answer to a frequently asked question, How was your freshman year? In fact, those of us who experienced our freshman year could be addressed as “college veterans” will never initiate a conversation with regard to the past year. Perhaps they consider that the freshman year was not as consummate as they initially planned. I cannot judge my first year in college was successful or frustrating, but I feel I benefited from the meritorious experiences and practical knowledge gained from my college life. In my opinion, no matter what goals one wishes to achieve in college, whether its grade, love, health, or sense of accomplishment, one has to be prepared for both failures and…

Hardworking, trustworthy, selfless, determined, and helpful… I believe that I have demonstrated these qualities exceptionally throughout my high school career. A glimpse at my exquisite grades that I have kept in four years of challenging classes reveals not only my effort, but my endless determination as well. Despite all of the energy that I directed towards my own success at school, I was always willing to help others who struggled in their classes, especially in math and science. Also, I put time and effort into my extracurricular activities in order to benefit my school’s community. I painted a mural of the Mt. Hope Bridge to beautify a conference room, helped plan countless events for the entire student body, from spirit weeks to…

Teddy Roosevelt once said that nothing worth having comes easy. With this in mind, I have actively spent my high school years working to ensure that my success and achievements are fruits of hard work and perseverance, rather than sheer luck. These past four years, I have dedicated my young mind to absorbing the valuable knowledge that pools before me in my rigorous AP courses. In addition, I also invested a good portion of my time into my school’s band program. Although balancing academics and such a demanding extracurricular activity was difficult, I managed to find the time to also participate in very rewarding organizations such as National Honor Society, among others.…

In high school my most outstanding example of a time when I set an example as a student leader was my sophomore year in high school. My sophomore year of high school I was brought up to the varsity soccer team, the team that I was on was not extremely hard working and or dedicated. As a sophomore I was afraid to stand up and verbally tell the entire team that we need to step it up, or we are going to have a horrible season, so I decided to make my statement apparent by my actions. First, I started by always being the first one to every practice, putting pressure on my other teammates to do the same, in result everyone started to arrive to practice earlier. The second step I took was difficult since I was one of the youngest players and the…

In the Spring of last year, it was my Junior year, one of the most critical years in high school. It’s the year that colleges look at the most, also it was the year that I was in some of the most challenging classes. Mostly honors, a lot of homework, and tests to go along with it. Studying would take me until late at night, and even on weekends, all day long. When it’s the end of the term everyone checks their grades for their report cards, and progress reports.…

Writing was not a subject that held my interest in high school. Throughout the last twelve years I have found myself having to write letters, proposals, and business correspondence for my employers. I would complete the assignment and move on to the next task. Deciding to further my education I enrolled in Daytona State College and my first class was your ENC 1101. I have seen a change in my pre-class writing style; I have honed my skills, and the different techniques I have learned while taking this course have only improved my writing style.…

The end of the day comes whether you have gotten up to do something productive or if you have simply remained inanimate while time moves around you. I have found that the present slips away while you are worrying about the future. We are constantly telling ourselves that if we just get through this, then everything after will be better. We forget to appreciate the moment while constantly reaching for a hypothetically more fulfilling life. Once we graduate high school, or get through a challenging class, or finish a workout, everything after will get easier.…

Since the first day, time has been flying really fast. Starting a fresh new day, meeting the same teachers and same old friends, I still cannot imagine that I am now a senior! In my senior year, there will definitely be a lot of challenges and obstacles for me to conquer, but I believe that as long as I do everything step by step, I can beat down the difficulties in this senior year. When I was in junior year, I often heard last year’s seniors told me how hard is it to come up with a senior project topic, and they kept on reminding me to start thinking of my topic and finding my mentors. Luckily, I had research method class last year, so I knew how to do my APA style references and I had many presentations experiences last year.…

Before I began my Freshman Development Seminar course with Professor Furet, I believed that this class would not be of good use to me. The reason for this was because of my beliefs in self-teaching myself to learn the basics with additional help from other sources. However, it did not turn out the way I wanted it to be. Therefore, I had to pay to get taught what I could have done on my own, at least that is what I convinced myself then and there. Throughout my class sessions with Ms. Furet, I learned more than I could have ever imagined.…
