My Personal Experience: Coming To The United States

Most people live in one country when they were growing up, But I didn’t put myself on those people because my whole life was a ball and chain. I lived my childhood in Pakistan in which I saw many up and down, then to control and overcome from the situation in 2008, we move to Dubai, but somehow it didn’t work out. So before coming to the United States in 2012, my mind was ready for no more blunder. The thought that brings me to the United States is to get better education, diversity of job opportunities, freedom of my life, extremely multicultural, and devoid of beauty. However, that experience turned out to be a piece of cake compared to adjustment that I would encounter. In consideration of my past, I adjust in the United States very quickly. …show more content…
The first thing that I need to go through when I entered into the United States was a long line for immigration in which I saw plenty of people of different races. It was my first time to meet people of different country. After 30 minutes, when we reach through the front counter the woman at the counter was so boorish to my family, she says that,“what you’re doing here if you don’t know English” because we didn’t understand what we need to do. After that, one guy comes from the back to help us pass through that process. This change had a positive impact on me that what else is going to come next. Then, we go outside of the airport but we faced our first encounter because my aunt is going to come to pick us, but she was late two hours. The bad thing about that was we didn’t have her phone number to contact her. That was a big change in my life. Then, I started to search for a community college to begin my college career. On the other hand, my friend and family member was looking for my job too. In order to pay my daily and college expenses. Meanwhile, I also decided which college I want to go that was Houston’s Community College. Before going to the college, I did admission application online to get my student id number. I was assuming that now finally i can start my college. However when I reached to the college I talked to the counselor about my major and then she told me first I need to take a TSI placement test to take the college courses. However, I couldn 't pass one part of the test that was writing so they put me in ESL classes to get my writing more efficient for college level
