Volunteering Reflection

A few extra things that I can mention about my overall time spent at the ASANTE hospital is that it is very difficult. There are times where I did not know what to do, or who to call to fix certain problems and/or to get extra assistance. For instance, I had an incident where someone threw up all over outside of the South Lobby where I was located, encountered a disfunction with one of the toilets here that had people coming to me over and over to complain to and many angry people who took their frustrations out on me. I did, however, experience some good things. I had a wonderful volunteer service staff who would come over to talk to me during my shifts to make sure all my questions were answered and that I was not encountering anything that I should not have to deal with. Additionally I was able to enjoy the greetings of many employees and patients/visitors who had came in …show more content…
Volunteering here at the hospital was not a walk on the beach, but more of a bi-polar weather day of Oregon. At times it was nice and sunny, hailed, snowed, hurricane, cloudy and then back to sunshine with clear skies. It wasn’t exactly what I had expected, more intense. I really appreciate what our hospital workers around the world have to deal with and fix. Along with all other employers I now truly understand the struggle of getting bad hours, finding a ride, and having of pulled the shortest straw. With all this, however, I have gotten to be able to meet great people (shout out to my volunteer services employers), gotten wisdom when it comes to real-life stressful situations, finding ways to cope from anger, stress, depressed situations, etc. It was a great experience and I am glad I was able to make it through this

Looking back at my team’s entire process of the project, I genuinely enjoyed the entire process although there were many ups and downs along the way. When we first got informed about the project, we were all lost and had completely no idea what to do. The leader immediately organized our first meeting to get everyone started with the project. We gave roles in our group and I ensured that they know what their responsibility are. I find what I did well was being able to communicate effectively with my teammates to achieve better efficiency and teamwork.…

Team building was also a strength our team implied. Our team never encountered any conflicts with each other while working on this project. When we were all assigned roles in the project everyone seemed pleased with what their responsibilities were. Everyone’s ideas were always heard and we were able to come up with a solution to a problem as a group. We seemed to get along very well, help each other out with any parts we had trouble with and get the job done by the expected date.…

I will be able to prioritize tasks as well for a better handling of patient care duties. During my practicum, I did a good job filling most of the gap and loopholes. I mean I had my clinical rotation and my practicum at the same hospital. I felt really comfortable. Most of the day and night crew knew me so well and were willing to guide me do things the right way whenever possible or necessary.…

As I begin to reflect back on the course, there were so many positive learning experiences that raced through my mind. I cannot help but constantly think about how amazing the teaching team truly was. Having the opportunity to be exposed to what “right” looks and “FEELS” like, is truly astonishing. This past journey made me consistently think of John Wooden’s famous quote, “Being a role model is the most powerful form of educating…too often people neglect it because they get so caught up in making a living they forget to make a life” (as cited in Middleton, Brown, Andress, Pockrandt, Turner, Adetilewa, & Oliver, 2016). So many lives came to life throughout the course because of the well-thought-out conditions that were set by the teaching team.…

I-Search Reflection Essay As an individual, I was happy with my contributions. In past group projects, I’ve been known to do too much of the project. I wouldn’t trust in my groupmates to do the work so I’d end up just doing most of it by myself. On this project, I really worked to trust my groupmates to do the work and I think I was successful. I was able to trust my groupmates and have faith in them.…

I gained an understanding of how stressful and time consuming her job can be, and because of my volunteer work I was able to improve her situation. She was so appreciative of the time I spent working with her and I could tell that, even though the work I did was not very “high skill,” I alleviated a lot of her stress and made her life a little easier. I believe community service is very important and should be done by every citizen at least once. It teaches you to appreciate the things that you have as well as the lives of other people. Throughout my life I plan to volunteer in my community whenever it is possible.…

There are patients I will never forget because of everything I learned while working with them. When I first received my CNA, I was scared of making a mistake on the job, but as I started working, the fear quickly went away. Being with and caring for a patient all came naturally for me. I was a successful CNA because of the type of person I am: very patient, kind, a good communicator, and able to have empathy and compassion for all types of…

I thoroughly enjoy coming into work and seeing certain patient’s faces light up when they see me, because we always have great conversation and they know they can come talk to me about what is on their mind. I believe that building a rapport with your client is the foundation to being a successful counselor because if a client does not feel comfortable saying whatever it is on their mind then will be difficult to give them the proper treatment needed. I feel I have done a good job so far in the short amount of time at my current job building rapport with our current residents. I want them to be able to trust me and for us to have a mutual understanding with each other that they are welcome to come talk to me especially if they are having a particularly difficult day. I never realized how crucial relationship building and building a rapport was until I realized that patients act differently depending on how much they trust the person they are talking to.…

    17) people inherently seek feedback about their strengths, not their flaws. I believe it is so important for a manager to let their employees know how much their hard work is appreciated. If I were a manager I would go around to all of my employees and let them know that I understand that it can be easy to get unmotivated at work, and that I really appreciate all of their effort and their hard work. I would then ask them what I can do to help, or what I can do to make their work day run more smoothly. I would let them all know if they needed to talk, I am always here for them.…
