My College Experience In The Wichita State University

August 12th, 2015. As I wake up for the first day of my senior year, sunlight sneaks through my drapes. I realize then that this is my last year of high school. What happens next? Obviously, college because it’s basically expected as the next step in life. For me, it was my only option, but I had no idea where I wanted to further my education. Somehow I ended up at Wichita State University (WSU). There were many obstacles to overcome through my college search, such as: financial reasons, student life, and where I felt most at home. Some of these relate to WSU, but others do not. I am excited for my college experience, but often I question whether I have made the right decisions. Most college-bound kids are nervous about how to pay for college. I am one of those types of students. I grew up with a single mother, who relied completely on herself to pay for everything. She never asked my father for child support. She did not need that pity money. Once I started examining college expenses, my jaw dropped. I was astonished by the price and never thought I’d be able to attend a university. I thought a community college would be the most affordable. I also felt sort of at home, since my Aunt lives only fifteen minutes away. I had to find the right college where I felt close to family because my mom moved to Mission, TX this last summer. I don’t completely feel at home, though. I absolutely love Nebraska football. I have friends that attend school there and that’s where I always thought I would be. I’m upset every Saturday that I’m not there with them. It was also hard coming to WSU because I knew nobody here. The only way I know certain people is because of Greek life, which I’m not a hundred percent sure about to this day. I often feel like I would be happier at UNL, but I’ve decided to give WSU a
