My Path Research Paper

Everyone has their own path in life, and much like Phoenix Jackson, mine is one of trials and tribulation. The physical obstacles, landscape, and people that Phoenix faces are symbols that are relatable to personal occurrences in my own life. Phoenix has difficulty seeing and relies on her memory to get her through her journey. This is a physical problem for her, but to me symbolizes the unknown. Not knowing what the future holds is a very worrying thing to me. She also has trouble with the state of her body. Her bones are old and weary, which to me symbolizes how exhausting it is going to school and working a part time job. The combined hours of going to school all day and working til late in the night take a toll on me physically. Her age is also a difficult problem for her because she is weak, slow, and she is even told to go home and discontinue her journey to town because of her …show more content…
I have met many people like this man. People that tell me I cant do something and try to get me to give up, but I keep pushing through and prove them wrong. When she walks into town she asks a woman to tie her shoes, which the woman is happy to do. This symbolizes those few people I have met that are encouraging and stand behind the choices I make and the goals I set for myself. These people are the ones who support me no matter what and give me the courage to keep going. When Phoenix enters the hospital she is met by a nurse who continues to bombard her with questions and a rude attitude. The nurse, to me is a paradigm of those who make me question my own mindset. They make me second-guess myself and sometimes change my mind about my goals. These people are blunt and discouraging to me and sometimes I decide it is better just to avoid them if at all
