My Past Experiences Between Writing And Research

Decent Essays
Most of my past experiences with reading and writing would be for school because I don't read or write outside of school. English has always been a subject that I struggle with and have to take my time with. I've always known how to research and find the information and put it in my own words but the struggles I have is masking sure everything is correct like the grammar and punctuations. I know that I will have to use reading and writing to fulfill my goals in the medical field because I will have to be able to read patients records and be able to chart what's going on with the patient and have to be able to understand medical

My mind feels like a 1000 piece puzzle missing a piece. I can’t simply find the right words to say to start this paper. It is always like this when freewriting; the idea of freewriting in and of itself frightens me. Never able to put the words in my head onto paper in a way that it can be read eloquently by others. My hands start to cramp automatically at the idea of freewriting.…

As you requested, I am writing to share my past writing experiences which include what kinds of writing I have done in school, the feedback that I seek on my work before I turn in assignments, the memories that I have of writing, voluntary writing I have done, and much more. Past Experiences with Writing Previous to this course I have taken several mandatory English, Writing, and Literature courses in which I have gained experience that now impact the way I write. In high school, I took my basic English & Writing courses, along with an Advanced Placement English IV course, in which the teacher persuaded me to join the University Interscholastic League (UIL) and compete in the Ready Writing Competition, in which I won first place in the…

Every writer has wondered why they practice their craft, including myself. School has always been where the majority of my writing endeavors have taken place. I often fear that if I were not graded on my assignments, if I was free to submit whatever quality of work I chose, that I would not be a good writer. The doubt in my mind tells me that I write only for getting good grades, but that is not true. While school is a factor, I write mainly because I enjoy it, and because it is a place where I can organize and extend my thinking.…

    I. Introduction Writing and reading are important skills in college for creating essays, as well as in careers like medical and legal fields. When writing reports or essays, the information has to be organized, or it will become unfocused. Reading is just as important as writing since that is the main way the information will be conveyed. While I would not consider myself great at reading and writing, I do have experience with both of these skills. For some people, just getting started is the difficult part.…

I find it better to write if you slow down, take your time, and copy notes off a friend if you get behind. Another problem i have is creating a story to write about. This problem may be very hard to fix for most people but, it helps me when i stop everything i am doing close my eyes and start to think about my topic.finally, the last problem i had with writing was punctuation.…

Some of the most important occupations in the world are the ones most people do not stop to think about and appreciate. Despite most popular career choices such as doctors, teachers, lawyers, and IT workers come to mind easily, there is much more than those. One underrated career would be an author, novelists specifically. Though most people do this is a hobby or part time job, this can and is a full time career that many talented people put all their effort in to satisfy their audience. If many people wish to write a book, it is hard because "strong competition is expected for full-time jobs because many people are attracted to this occupation" (Writers and Authors: Occupational Outlook Handbook:: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).…

Ever since I can remember I have been drawn to writing. Just ask my parents, when presented with puzzles as a 2 year old (one with letters the other with numbers) I would pick the letters every time. My academic interests have always been slanted toward reading and language arts. Throughout High School I sought out as many english and writing classes I could find which, unfortunately, in my school was not very many.…

Autobiographical Literacy Reading serves the purpose of letting you get into the world or the event that is describing the authors in its writing. For many people reading is fascinating and for many other is just awful, for me, reading is just like another activity I could do in my free time when it relates to my likes. Writing is a complicated as it is to have the correct grammar usage and punctuation, which are essential to an excellent essay. Personally, reading is not a big deal for me but writing is hard I really dislike the fact that I have to write essays for school and it is really hard for me to put all the ideas together and get to work on essays. I remember I learned to read when I was 5 years old…

Ready to Learn I was about six years old when i first learned how to read. someone told me to go to the public library where the librarian read children’s books to the children. It interested me, so I went and was invited to sit down and listen while a lady read to us. I remember being excited about being asked to participate in the reading group. After she was done reading to us she let us check out books to write book reports so after picking out my books I ran home to begin reading and writing the book reports.…

At the beginning of this English course, I was so nervous and scared that I would fail. I do not think I have ever been a good writer. It has always terrified me because I have difficulty putting my thoughts down on paper. This course has proven to be highly inspiring to me as well as frightening. It has really taught me more about the understanding of the writing process and structure, in which helped me to not focus so much on the actual writing parts.…

Throughout my years of high school I have learned many things. Some of the things I have learned are meaningful in life. Other things that I have learned are useless because they will never be applied in life. One of the things that I have been required to use in every subject which I dread the most is writing. The requirement of writing in every class has brought out my flaws of putting thoughts down on paper.…

If you were to ask me about my high school writing experience, I would tell you that I did not have much experience. We did not have any classes at my school that were specifically writing classes. At my high school, we just had regular English classes where we would occasionally do a few papers in. My English teacher senior year was a great person, but did not necessarily teach us a lot about proper styles of writing papers. Coming into college English, I did not feel well prepared with what to expect for a college level writing class.…

Writing did not come naturally for me as it did for other students, who could write within minutes and the piece was established as well said or a great explanation. I often dote on how many others have it so easy, while I spend my time struggling to write a few sentences that make sense to the reader. When I do write for school papers, my intent, like many others, is to follow the entire rubric, to make sure all that I have fits the prompt as I strive for good grades. When I was little and even now having good grades is not only essential to me, but important to my parents as well. My style of writing is hard to understand and many times I received criticism about my phrasing, an example of that being it was“awkward to follow.”…

Over the course of this semester I learned a handful of things about myself as a writer, that will help me develop as a more proficient writer over the course of my four years here. As a writer one of my strengths is backing up my argument with solid and concrete evidence that truly makes the reader believe what they are reading. Another area of my writing that I excel in is being able to process great ideas that follow the guidelines and the prompt. With that being said I have also seen that while the ideas may come with ease, I do have a challenging time with getting the ideas from my head onto paper in a manner that isn’t so disorganized that it makes the reader second guess themselves. Another shaky part of my writing comes much before the actual forming of sentences.…
