My Passion For Writing

Decent Essays
Hi Mr. Markowitz! I hope you’re enjoying your summer! I’m Lauren Perl, Jonny’s little sister, and I am beyond interested in being a teen reviewer for you! I’m an upcoming 8th grader at the Roberto Clemente Middle School Humanities Program, where I go to pursue my passion of writing and the liberal arts. When not in the classroom however I dedicate some time to Susan Alexander Thompson and Diane Hamilton’s performance ensemble, Take the Stage. I do this to fuel my ever growing love for musical theater (currently my favorite shows are Fun Home, Hamilton, Les Mis, and Tick Tick Boom). It would be a purely magical experience to see my passion for writing and theater overlap. Thank you!

In the Declaration of Independence Thomas Jefferson wrote that every single person has the right to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. Well it’s interesting that he put “the pursuit” of happiness because happiness isn’t something that is guaranteed or something that can be bought. You have to bring happiness to your life by whatever means necessary. Whether it be music, art, literature, exploring, or just learning more about the world around us. For me personally there are three main sources that bring me happiness and just overall joy my family, work, and my best friend Caleb.…

My middle school theater experience has been one of the most memorable and meaningful times of my life. I have been a part of many performances but a few of my favorite roles to play were Mr. Smee in Peter Pan, Matilda in Elves and the Shoemaker, and Adelaide in Guys and Dolls.
