Prewriting, in essence, is just as important as creating the final copy of your work as it ensures that your writing is well formed and thought out. Without getting your ideas put into the best order possible the outcome would appear lifeless and unclear. I used “prewriting” techniques prior to knowing that it was an actual thing. Out of the five strategies shown in our textbook, I use both the “listing” and “outline” techniques as they seem to create more order out of my oftentimes chaotic thought process. I do not believe I could simply choose one strategy and create my best work.…

The style in which you decide to write should be natural for writer and bound to echo; Vonnegut explains that regardless of what the writers first language is he/she should always treasure it because if it becomes part of their work it will make their writing that much more ‘delightful’ to read. Saying what you mean to say will not only get the writers point across but also stop them from rambling on. Vonnegut’s last step is to pity the reader because they require the writer to be “sympathetic and patient, and willing to simplify and clarify” their writing yet how the writer chooses to write is unlimited. If the writer follows these seven steps their writing will not only have style but also echo in the mind of the…

Students need to know that the first product they write will not be perfect because writing involves a process which includes brainstorming, drafts, revising, and sharing/publishing. The benefit for students is that they have the opportunity to write and teachers will be able to work with a small group and individuals who need more help.
