At a young age I wished to be a hairdresser, later a veterinarian, more recently a teacher, but ultimately, a pediatric nurse. As the oldest of four and coming from a large extended family, I have always been well acquainted with children and have always enjoyed working with them. As for the medical field, I have always been interested in medicine, but more recently since my experience with certain high school classes and shadowing opportunities. During my sophomore year I took a sports medicine class that taught such things as basic first aid, ankle taping, and sports related injuries. However, the most influential portion of this class was the shadowing requirement. As a part of passing this course, I was assigned to shadow a professional in the medical field. Fortunately, my own uncle is the owner of Sports Medicine North and head of orthopedic surgery, who gladly offered me a day to observe in his hospital. Upon my arrival I was greeted by a nurse who happily handed me a pair of scrubs, gave me a general tour of the hospital. I was then ushered from wing to wing, observing and assisting in various jobs around the hospital. By the end of my day here, I knew this was the place I belonged in ten
