My Passion For K-State: College Career

Decent Essays
My passion for K-State will make my college career so much more fun, and also filled with many more activities than high school. I hope to be involved in marching band, I also want to have a job on campus, and help my fellow students, and I also want to go to a lot of KSU sporting events with my friends. I think the fact that I care about more than just academics will reduce my stress level too, and make me generally happier too. I hope that the more accepting college atmosphere will improve my happiness, and make me a better friend, and then I will have more energy to make those around me happier. I hope that me and my roommate, will be able to both be passionate enough about college to encourage each other to do our best, so we can both do

I started attending Lone star college right after high school, at first, I began with the typical high school graduate state of mind, which was that college was going to be a breeze and that it would all be fun and games; more worried about what was going on in my social life rather than studying the books. Especially since I had no real responsibilities to handle or much life experience. Around my first year of college, I started dating this girl and not long after we conceived our first son. Once this happened, my focus slowly shifted from school to working a full-time job at a welding shop in order to provide for my family. For the majority of my life before coming to Texas A&M, I knew that I had to figure out a way to get here. Getting a college education would be my escape route to deviate away from becoming a low income family like my mother and her previous generations. My mother did the best she could to take of her three children by herself, but like many single parent households she struggled to do so. Due to my mom being the sole bread winner, there was often not enough money to maintain our household. I remember many days when we were only able to eat one meal a day that consisted either of half a chicken sandwich shared between my sister and I, or just a pack of saltine crackers.…
