Abner Doubleday had nothing to do with the creation of the sport. Abner Graves, who shared the information with The Mills Commission in search of baseball’s origin created the false information. In 1845, Cartwright, the true inventor, and one of the founders of the Knickerbocker Baseball Club in New York, took the ideas of the game rounders and the game cricket, and established rules that made baseball what it is today. Because of Cartwright, American’s can enjoy the sport of baseball, America’s favorite pastime.…

Baseball’s history is a bit scattered. We don’t technically who the original creator was but one rumor that was floating around that a man Abner Doubleday was the original creator of baseball. However this is false, in fact there isn’t any evidence to support this, the only reason this rumor started was because someone testified that he was indeed the creator. The man credited as the creator of baseball is Alexander Cartwright (“B-R Bullpen” 1).…

Doubleday then went on to become a Civil War hero, while baseball became America's beloved national pastime. References to games resembling baseball in the United States date back to the 18th century. Its most direct ancestors appear to be two English games: rounders (a children’s game brought to New England by the earliest colonists) and cricket. Cartwright’s changes made the burgeoning pastime faster-paced and more challenging while clearly differentiating it from older games like cricket. In 1846, the Knickerbockers played the first official game of baseball against a team of cricket players, beginning a new, uniquely American tradition.…

The JFK assassination, Vietnam war, fights for civil rights, racial tensions, radical students, and the MLK assassination were main events that took place in the 60’s that made many Americans fear the worst for our nation. In the middle of all the hate, crime, and death were 16 major league baseball teams fighting for a championship, not caring what was going on in the rest of the country. While America seemed to be falling apart, baseball was on the rise, and having what most people would say its own golden age.…

The game of baseball has a long and questionable history. Where did the game of baseball develop from, some argue the game developed from the English game cricket while others will argue that the game developed from an old game called rounders. Rounders is believed to have been played during the Tudor period of English history. Both games were played for many years. The game of baseball is played today in the United States and the earliest history of baseball in America is in the late 1700’s in Massachusetts. The game continued to be played in the United States in different areas. The actual person to invent baseball is part of a major sports myth. For many years a man by the name of Abner Doubleday was given credit for developing baseball. The funny part of the story is while it was stated he developed baseball in 1839 it wasn’t until years later he got the credit due to a push by a fellow named Al Spalding. The name should sound familiar as he was a sports merchandising person. He helped create the Doubleday myth. In reality, the game of baseball or better yet the early rules for baseball…
