In writing my paper for the Cause and Effect, Problem Solving essay, I came in contact with a few challenges of my own. One of my biggest problems was the time strain. With working at least twenty-five hours a week, a lot of time that I could be working on school is taken up. Another difficult task I encountered was the citations. In my previous years of high school, teachers only required the use of parenthetical citations; therefore, I was unfamiliar with all other types when writing this paper.

In order to solve the problems that I faced, I had to find solutions in order to overcome them. First, to fix the time strain, I made sure to manage my time. I sat aside certain times of the day to work on my paper. Next, I spoke with my

In order to collect data to found out the root of the problem on why the preregistration rate is 16%. I would do a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) according to Kelly, (2011) “a Root Cause Analysis focuses primarily on systems and process not individual performance (p.148). ” Using RCA will help me organize and document causes of the preregistration process by monitoring the process from when a patient calls in for an appointment, how long it takes for receptionist to answer the phone and verbally confirm an appointment, how long it takes for a patient to preregister in the system and how long it takes for the financial department to receive patient’s health care information. Monitoring each process will help me better understand the time it takes…

In this log I'll be discussing Deepa Ramaswamy's Rhetorical Analysis of Two Sources. The subject of Ramaswamy's paper is something I have had a lot of personal experience, stress relating to school. I have had many challenges involving stress with school work, especially when it comes to time management. I never can seem to organize when it is I will do my work, if I get to it at all. I would not consider it vampiric like is mentioned in Ramaswamy's paper but it certainly takes the energy out of me.…

Over the semester, I found that the hardest part of all of the essays that I have written was using and finding evidence. The first paper that I wrote was extremely hard to write because I did not know how to find and use evidence. Now, I feel extremely confident in doing this. Another thing that I would like to point out is I am not as repetitive as I was before. Most of the papers that I have written before this year were very repetitious.…

In the quote from Writing Without Teachers, Peter Elbow talks about his ideas on the process of writing. He says, “think of writing as an organic, developmental process in which you start writing at the very beginning – before you know your meaning at all – and encourage your words gradually to change and evolve” (Elbow). Elbow believes that you can’t know what you are going to discuss or to comment on until you are done writing and all of your thoughts finally come together to make sense. He also goes against the idea that writing is only a two-step process, saying that this is the wrong method to go about writing and is a backwards way of thinking. I agree with Elbow’s ideas because this is how I think about the writing process, and is how I write most of the time.…

Throughout the first semester of College Composition, I wrestled with three essays, all differing in format and content. The first was a narrative that reflected our educational experience. After this came an analysis of a visual text, followed by a research paper. The narrative was the easiest to write; however, I acquired important skills for writing the other two, which were in a less familiar format. With the three essays, I learned about my own writing skills and habits concerning development and critical thinking, time management, and organization.…
