Many people have their own definition of what the term freedom means. If you type in the word freedom into google the definition that will come up is “the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.” If you were to ask me my own definition of freedom I would sum it up and say when you’re not tied down to anybody or anything and you get to do whatever you want whenever you want without any repercussions. An example would be if you are in a marriage, of course you have to consider the other person’s thoughts and feelings. But say you want to go out with your girlfriends and have a good night out. You come and your husband is furious and gets mad at you because you did not tell him how long you were going to be out. This right here is an example of not having freedom because you can’t live your life the way you want to and do the things you want to and still be happy. When a person is not free they are forced to find ways to be free and the person is driven by it. Another example would be Kate Chopin’s The Story of an Hour. Here in the story you have the main character Mrs. Mallard who has a heart condition and just receives news that her husband is dead. She cried at first and but didn’t grieve the way most people would, in time she was quite relieved and overcome with the feeling of freedom and happiness. Towards the end of the story her husband walks through the front door and she is shocked and dies. If you read between the lines of…
