In the tenth grade the curriculum is full of poetry and long novels. While poetry is typically hard for high schoolers who read it for the first time is hard to understand, Miss Lenhart would break down each line making sure I understood and saw the deeper meaning. Miss Lenhart was not the teacher who would just give me the answers, but she always encouraged me to dig deeper. She taught me many tricks on how to find what the other wants you to take away from their stories. I had never read a book on my own for fun until I left her class. She made reading feel more as though it was a hobby or a puzzle rather than a chore or a punishment.
