Is that even though it was writen 220 years ago some of the points he addressed are still very much relative in 2017. In this paper I will be giving my opinion on Washington's Farewell Address. Therefore back in 1796 George Washington was inferring the nation about the debt we will eventually be getting ourselves into. Many people of the nation didn't believe or didn’t agree with him or think he was right. But he may have changed our nations as a whole. All though this address was written a long time ago I feel as if they are still useful in this day of age. One specific reason I agree with his farewell address. Because we are spending more money on unnecessary purchases rather than trying to pay down our debt and helping our future generations. The idea of higher taxes on purchases or luxury items to strictly pay down our debt seem to be a great advantage to our future generations. I also agree with his “spirit of religion” view because 200 years ago people didn't choose what part of religion they wanted to follow. So it was easier to keep state and religion together rather than separated. Though now it is much more difficult because people now can make different religious choices. And our country has grown in ethnic background. Though I do not agree with all of his views I particularly don't agree with his “warning of over’ powerful military.” Unfortunately our country has seen terrorism first hand it has affected multiple generations, including future generation. Although this wasn't as large of a threat in 1796 when the farewell address was written it very much is an issue
