My Oedipus Complex Story Analysis

Only Child When I came to U.S. I saw a lot of families that have only one child, which is something unusual in my country. In Saudi Arabia, most of the families have at least three children in order to have a larger family. at the beginning, I did not pay attention to this problem until I read My Odipus Complex story by Frank O’Connor, which is as a story talking about how is difficult to have only one child. I think everyone should read this story specially parents because they will understand more about this situation. In My Odipus Complex story we can learn three things, which are prevent a child from being very close to his or her mother, teach a child how to respect his or her parents, and how can we solve this problem. In My Oedipus Complex story, when Larry has brother, who is Sonny, he became more calm and understandable with his father. We can deal with this problem by making our child more social. For example, enrolls him or her in school that he or she can meet a lot of children and play with them. Additionally, if parents prepare their child to his or her new sibling by buying dolls and taking care of it as same as his or her sibling until he or she born, it will makes him or her excited to see his or her new sibling. Other useful method is going to a baby center, which is prepare all the family for the new member; it will be excellent for the child. Furthermore, if they act with him like an adult he will start to take the responsibility and act like grown. I think family’s problem need to clarify be the parents first then their children. In conclusion, My Oedipus Complex story by Frank O’Connor is very advantage story for families who has only one child because this story represent three things, which are prevent a child from being close to his mother, teach a child respecting his parents, and how can they solve this problem.
