Under the influence of my peers and their parents, my parents determined to send me study aboard—one of the most abrupt and forceful plans I have ever encountered. The key goal was to fix my bad habits and unawareness of what my obligation is, since I would be in a distinct environment alone. I did accept their decision, expecting my U.S. high school life to be just interesting as how is it portrayed in a typical American comedy, and all the potential problems to diminish by itself.

for summer holiday, but not going back to my home in Shenzhen—instead, going to another city. As a result of my request to parents, I entered a summer school in Beijing to study. It has the same thousands of miles from my home, the same atmosphere as I lived along, even the same study environment—with students from all around the country seeking English improvement.
I had my entire summer holiday with a schedule even more regular than that in my school time: Get up by seven, have English class through twelve, an hour of lunch, calculus class till four, and practice tennis all the way to eight. Since most of my activities were constrained within a few street blocks and with a few people, I did feel pressure, but I also knew that the fruit would be worth my work.
Nonetheless, by the time when I returned to the school, I was somehow nervous about how much I have improved from my work in the entire summer. However, the work was proven to be fruitful with my straight-A grades and much more participation in school activity, including the school’s tennis team. By the way I now understand it, as I moved through the rough path of adapting to a different system of education, I learned more through my ninth grade failure than any other time because the failure stimulated me into entering a whole summer of self-improvement, and a progress of turning fully into
