My papa’s Waltz Reading the poem I felt sad for the little boy. Immediately I thought that the boy's father was an alcoholic , who physically beat his son, but as I kept reading and rereading I began to paint a different picture. The boy loved his father and the dancing they did together “I hung on like death” and the boy and his father very much enjoyed doing this together “romped”. The word beat in the poem is not to beat as in hurt, but what I believe is meant to count steps in the waltz.…

Whether or not college should be free is a tough but important question, which is why I decided to tackle it. Free college would give everyone an equal opportunity at higher education, but would also increase the amount of money people would have to pay in taxes. College costs about 40 percent of a typical family income. Personally, I believe that college should be completely free of cost, for a certain area of people where their annual family income is below a certain amount because of how hard it is for low income families to send their children off to college. While taking a deeper look into the expenses that come with a college education I found out that most private universities average to about $50,000 per year leaving the student in an average debt of $20,000 after graduation.…

College Admission Frenzie Parents, students, and alumni, all have one situation in common: college was conducted into their minds early in life. Starting in the early 2000’s, college degrees seemed to become more necessary to acquire jobs in America. Because of this, parents seemed to influence their children to start learning more about college at a younger age. A pro to this idea, is that the student gains more knowledge about the necessity, and importance, of a college degree.…

I would give anything to see her, to hear her voice just one last time, to tell her I loved her and that I was sorry for leaving. I felt so brave when I left New Zealand, a soldier fighting for his country, for the greater good, but now I felt like a coward. I was scared all the time, I had nightmares whenever I slept, waking up just as a bullet hit me, tearing through my skin like it was made of paper. Red had stained the countryside, along with the limbs from soldiers that had been blasted off by explosives. These sights made me sick, the queasy feeling I had learned to live with due to the lack of food often grew worse, making me double up in pain, the bully beef and biscuits they served were nothing compared to my mother's homemade stew and bread.…

Should college education be free for all U.S. citizens? How are free universities in Germany and other European countries benefiting these countries and students? Imagine how the U.S. would benefit from free college education. How many more students we would have that actually finish college and not only that, but don’t have a huge debt to pay back afterwards. Other than the fact that yes, if there was free college less students would take it as a joke like if it were high school.…
