“Excuse me madam, you need help?’ I saw an old man wearing rags, carrying a sandwich in one hand and his phone in the other. Dressed in a blue collared shirt, neatly buttoned and belted up, he looked nothing close to a street urchin. It was my first day in the most wanted city of the United States of America-New York. I thanked him for his help, and decided to figure out the route of the subway (tube trains) as they call it there.
It took me time, to get myself accustomed to the yellow, blue line signs on the boards of the subways. My first destination was the famous Statue of Liberty. As I stepped out of the tube, I began following the directions on my map towards the statue. New York had always been a place I wanted to visit alone, as I got off the tube platform and climbed the stairs to reach the road, the sight of the city left me stunned. After a while, I began to feel thirsty, so I decided to grab a coffee at Starbucks, the fragrance of fresh coffee beans tempted me to enter the café and I’d heard a lot about it from my cousins who stayed abroad. The waitress suggested me to try out the Double Chocolate Frappe; the beverage came with my name on it. The quantity for the price they charged, seemed to be quite worthwhile, and enough to keep me going for the day. I decided to visit the Empire State Building, one of the most significant places in New York. Unfortunately, due to the 9/11 attacks the observatory deck and the tower itself seemed to be under construction so all I could do was admire its beauty from the outside. There were other decks like the Rockefeller Centre etc, which also offered a great view but I did not visit them. My research about the city told me that the fastest way to travel; in the city was the underground
