Personal Narrative: My New Job At Buscom Consulting

Superior Essays
I am looking forward to starting my new job here at BusCom Consulting. Before I begin my work I would like to introduce myself to you.

My Background
I was born and raised in Springfield, Pa, which is a small town in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I have a deep love for the city of Philadelphia, and I am a fan of the Eagles, Flyers, and Phillies. I live with my parents, as well as my younger brother and sister. I have played organized sports all my life, including dance, soccer, track, and lacrosse, so I know how to follow structure and love a team dynamic.
I was very selective when looking for a school, and University of Pittsburgh seemed like the perfect fit for me. I wanted a big school with lots of football games and student activities

I had to take a four-hour class and then pass a written and field test to be certified to officiate fifth and sixth grade girl lacrosse games. From March till May I officiated about two to four games a weekend. This was my first job and it helped me learn how to be responsible when creating a schedule; I had to be aware of my own sports schedule as well as my work schedule. Working as a ref also taught me how to follow rules, have confidence in myself, and how to speak up to people. I learned how to resolve conflicts with angry coaches and …show more content…
I have gained professional experience through my work during my summer internship, my visits to companies in China, and my attention to information meetings with Fortune 500 companies here on campus through my fraternity. My fraternity also gives me an advantage to having strong relations with fifty or more other young business professionals. It is an easy way for me to see what new ideas young professionals may have.
• Not only do I have the ability to learn, but I also have expressed the ability to teach. As a student and an intern, I have had many opportunities to expand my knowledge. But while I was a youth official, I had the opportunity to teach young girls how to correctly play the game of lacrosse. I gained the ability to adapt what I know into a way that is helpful to an audience that is less knowledgeable than me.
• Being a part of sports teams and a pledge class has made me a solid team worker. I feel I work best in group situations because there are the chances to throw ideas off of each other.

I would describe my personality as approachable, light hearted, and positive. I believe that, if asked, my colleagues and supervisor would say the same about me. I have worked with diverse groups of people most of my career, including my time in University. I am most comfortable, and happy, in this type of environment because it offers me unique learning opportunities. I have found, in the past, that I work well in an individually driven environment; however, I can certainly be productive in a team based setting as well.…

The group project with my fellow group members Avery Ezell, DaShawn Gilliam and Ayaka Matsunaga was a success. Our topic focused on mentoring where we decided to partner with the Wicomico Mentoring Project in Salisbury, Maryland. The project provides “adult role models who volunteer to work with students to improve their grades, attendance and behaviors” (Wicomico County Public Schools). The coordinator Mark Thompson was more than glad to become our mentor to help our group make an impact on his organization. In addition, Professor Melany Trenary was a part of the project where she became another mentor.…

I have always been interested in learning and using new ideas. Throughout my life, I have invariably drawn from my life experiences, newly learned ideas and my continuing education to help problem-solve sensibly and realistically allowing me to move forward or help others reach their goals. Although I have no formal teaching experience, in my past work and involvement in organized sports, I have repeatedly used the Progressive philosophy. When dealing with 13 & 14 year olds many situations arise such as bullying, personality clashes or simply not understanding a drill or play. I deal with these situations by asking questions to stimulate a discussion, allowing them to draw on past experiences; positive or negative, consequently allowing them to come up with a solution or grasp the knowledge they are seeking.…

The idea of being told that I had to work for the first time made me want to eat glass; but could it possibly have turned out for the better? In England, when you reach 10th grade you participate in a nationally accepted program called 'Work Experience'. ' Work Experience' is when you work just like you would if you were legally an adult except with this program it only lasts a week. After 2 weeks of tireless searching I landed a job at Ariya Capital; an experienced developer and investor in clean energy and infrastructure projects throughout sub-Saharan Africa. It was actually much more advanced than any job I ever thought of getting.…

I have been working for Methodist for the past 4 years in our registration department and out of those four years, I have had the opportunity to work with 3 different management teams. Although, each of my management teams delivered different methods on how to properly register a patient under 7 min or less, our goal we have always strived for was keeping our patient satisfaction scores at a high. Our organization implemented a strategy called AIDET, (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explain, and Thank you) to make this process work effectively. As our patient were very impressed with our ICARE values, (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence)…

Reflection Paper II Throughout my college experience here in the Carroll School of Management, group work and the ability to work well with others has been emphasized greatly. This makes sense, because in a professional environment, the ability to communicate, listen and contribute within a group leads to success and the achievement of goals. However, none have gone on as long as this project, making it a more realistic example of working on a team. Junior year of college is definitely a crazy time, as we are forced to balance heavy workloads with extracurriculars and recruiting.…
