The mantra they imbue is one less decision to make daily. For most of us, dress is one of the choice decisions early in the day. What to wear is usually driven by the nature of the meetings for the day, what color to wear is usually a self-expression of the inner mind. Of course, color is contextual and cultural. Sometimes, I find it an interesting leading indicator before words are spoken. By personal observation at work in America, I have found interesting correlation between people wearing black shirts on Monday and impending exits.
2) Colors, Dimensions and Body Language
In sales and even interviewers are taught to mirror the body language of the interviewee. These can be effective but are fleeting. Colors with co-workers and bosses, it is another story. It is said a picture is thousand words, a graph is a great communication tool and mostly 2 dimensional. For me, color brings in one more dimension seamlessly. By mirroring the colors that my colleagues naturally gravitate towards has propelled my communication immeasurable times – a true confluence of science of content and art of presentation.
