My Neuroscience

Some of my skills that I feel confident that is beneficial to both my neuroscience major and for my pharmacy career path are mainly artistic characteristics and desk-related tasks. Some of my characteristics include illustrating, designing, doing skilled crafts or using hand coordination with tools, filling out forms, and working on computers. For neuroscience, these attributes, especially these artistic abilities are crucial for understanding how the brain works, and visualizing how the brain works, especially through drawing is a valuable method to comprehending the topic. Designing plays a role in both neuroscience and in pharmacy, such as designing experiences for research the brain, and also for drugs as a pharmacologist. The factors that limit my proficiency with these skills are experience and critical thinking for situations--thinking in the abstract especially is a difficult skill to learn, and cannot be taught directly in school but rather through a myriad of experiences. In addition, training and explaining to other people is exciting, but difficult because it forces me to clearly verbalize how a certain process works, rather than mentally internalize my process. Also, using the scientific method is an enjoyable, but difficult process. This method includes evaluating, assessing, testing, appraising, and diagnosing; these steps are sometimes long in duration, depending on the situation, but it is common in research and for designing experiments where every variable must try to remain constant except for the independent variable and forming hypotheses about the
