When we are young, we are always told the cliché of ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’. However, I found myself guilty of doing just that before departing for Enyuka. While trying to get some advice for Enyuka from older grades, everyone I talked to had said that it was an amazing experience. However, after asking more questions, it seemed like there was nothing to enjoy: “You are never going to be able to sleep well”, “The food is terrible”, “The backpack weighs a ton”, “It is going to be freezing cold”. All of these thoughts stuck with me on the bus drive to Enyuka and I started to become extremely doubtful of whether or not I was going to actually enjoy the experience. I was constantly thinking about the fact that I was going to have to spend the next four days of my life with these people. Are they going to be nice... am I going to be with my friends...what if I don’t like the people in my group? Then the teachers started calling out names.
