Reflective Essay On Enyuka

Enyuka is not an experience like any other. It is affected by our attitudes, teamwork and actions and will be perceived differently by different people. As for me, Enyuka was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life, however my prejudgment about it could not have been any different.

When we are young, we are always told the cliché of ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’. However, I found myself guilty of doing just that before departing for Enyuka. While trying to get some advice for Enyuka from older grades, everyone I talked to had said that it was an amazing experience. However, after asking more questions, it seemed like there was nothing to enjoy: “You are never going to be able to sleep well”, “The food is terrible”, “The backpack weighs a ton”, “It is going to be freezing cold”. All of these thoughts stuck with me on the bus drive to Enyuka and I started to become extremely doubtful of whether or not I was going to actually enjoy the experience. Upon the arrival at base camp, I tried to rid my mind of these thoughts, yet I only started to worry about something else. Who is going to be in my team?

Almost four years ago, I entered Clackamas High School as a confused, shy, awkward freshman. Soon after entering the hallways of this school, I was assigned to a Freshman Assurance group and met with the group leaders. My group leaders were vivacious seniors, who were condescending and gave very little advice on high school. I felt a little intimidated by them, and the activities that they led made most of the freshmen in our group uncomfortable. They told us about their craziest stories and about the teachers who weren't of the most pleasant experience.…

Why We Should Get Rid of Standardized Testing Test. The word alone is enough to drive panic into the hearts of students everywhere. What I have found over my one week observation on the football team is that some particular grades are not fond of eachother. If the football team had to split into age groups and interact with only the one group that they picked the senior and junior class would definitely not choose the freshman class. The sophomore and freshman classes are neutral and would choose any grade. On day one of my research, all grades of the football team seemed to be able to tolerate each other, but it was Monday.…

I did my observation in Mrs. Cameron’s kindergarten class at Valley View Elementary School. I went over spring break, so I stayed for three days in the classroom and got to experience what it is like throughout the whole day. Mrs. Cameron’s classroom had five tables for the students to sit and a rocking chair at the front for herself; although, she hardly ever sat. Mrs. Cameron did not have a teacher’s desk, but instead she had a chair at one of the tables with the students. There were posters on the wall that together made the alphabet, and others which displayed vocabulary words.…
