She was admitted to the nursing school of the New England Hospital for Women and Children, and is labeled as the first African American women to finish nursing school in 1879. She was additionally one of the principal African American individuals from the American Nurses Association, and has been credited as one of the main ladies to enroll to vote in Boston taking after the approval of the nineteenth Amendment in 1920.
