The haunting music echoed off the walls of the acoustically perfect Orchestra Hall in Detroit. My many years of practice and dedication had all led up to this moment. After the final note of my flute solo, I was in awe. The music was so mysterious; how could I produce such a sound? After that moment, I knew I had reached a point where I truly could be proud of my musical accomplishments. Whether it be music or life, it is always important to be professional. Even starting out as a young musician, I took my learning seriously. Unlike some of the other students, I stayed quiet and was respectful to the band teacher. I began taking private lessons in sixth grade. The lessons gave me a sense of pride that I was doing something to help
