I was born into an average white and middle class family. I am an only child with no brothers or sisters. Growing up my family was never very religious until I entered middle school. We began going to a local Methodist church in which my parents became heavily involved. Fast forward 4 years, my mother gets a promotion which causes us to move from Florida to Georgia. However, she had struggled through the same issues with college when she was younger and knew it was best to just support me. My father has never attended college so he was supportive from the beginning of what I chose to do since he doesn’t know what changing my major a year before graduation entails. With the support of my parents behind me I knew I could have the courage to take that leap and stop what I had been studying for three years and enter a whole new field. One of my favorite quotes by F. Scott Fitzgerald states “For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want…I hope you live a life you’re proud of.
